Job description

The Principal Cyber Security Architect/Engineer will be responsible for leading the design and implementation of cutting‑edge cybersecurity solutions. You will be hands‑on in fortifying defenses against emerging threats and acting as the subject matter expert for technical challenges. You will be responsible for collaborating with cross‑functional teams, staying informed about emerging technologies, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

You will report directly to our Director of Cyber Security and you’ll work out of our Phoenix AZ, Atlanta GA, Charlotte NC or Houston TX locations on a Remote work schedule.

Hybrid Work Schedule Note: For the first 90 days, New Hires must be prepared to work 100% onsite M-F.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Lead the design and implementation of security reference architectures for Hybrid Cloud, Private Cloud, SaaS, and Enterprise‑level environments that accelerate delivery incorporating Zero Trust Principles, least privilege access and robust identity and access management models.
  • Develop enforceable security strategies for Data Centers, Virtualization, and AI technologies.
  • Provide architectural leadership for endpoint security solutions, data protection mechanisms, and SaaS integrations.
  • Establish and enforce security architecture standards, frameworks, and best practices aligned with Honeywell’s strategic goals.
  • Engage with external partners and vendors to evaluate and oversee security technology integrations that enhance Honeywell’s security program. (not hand‑on implementation)
  • Provide expert guidance on security best practices and emerging threats while pursuing continuous improvements of security architecture frameworks and standards.
  • Support security assessments and risk management activities across the enterprise.
  • Support Physical Security teams during M&A activities by providing architectural guidance to ensure secure integration and separation of physical security systems and controls.
  • As a Principal Security Architect, you will serve as a subject matter expert and technical mentor for both security and IT architects.
YOU MUST HAVE
  • 10+ years of experience with 8 demonstrated within a cyber focused single or multi‑domain role.
  • In-depth knowledge of security architectures and services across major hyperscalers (AWS, Azure, GCP, OCI).
  • Experience with network segmentation, micro‑segmentation, and secure network design principles.
  • Strong knowledge of Data Center security, Virtualization technologies, and AI security considerations.
  • Proven ability to develop and implement enterprise‑level security strategies and frameworks (Zero‑trust strategy, Secure AI Adoption).
  • Hands‑on experience with security frameworks and standards such as NIST ISO 27001/ISO 62443/AI RMF, CIS Controls, and MITRE ATT&CK.
  • Knowledge of data protection techniques including encryption, tokenization, and data loss prevention (DLP).
  • Familiarity with endpoint security technologies including EDR (Endpoint Detection and Response) and antivirus solutions.
