Founded in 1910, Dignity Health - Mercy Hospital is a 229-bed, acute care, nonprofit hospital located in Bakersfield, California. Serving nearly 90,000 patients annually, the hospital offers a full complement of services including Level II NICU, cancer care, women's health, and orthopedics. Additionally, Mercy Hospital Downtown & Mercy Hospital Southwest have been recognized as an LGBTQ+ Healthcare Equality High Performer by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation. They are both Joint Commission-certified Primary Stroke Centers. Mercy Hospital Downtown offers the only inpatient Oncology Unit in Bakersfield while Mercy Hospital Southwest has the only Obstetric Emergency Department in Bakersfield.

Job Summary and Responsibilities
As our Wellness Aide, you will be a driving force in promoting a culture of health and well-being among our employees and/or community members, designing and implementing programs that encourage healthy lifestyles and enhance overall quality of life.
Every day you will research, develop, and coordinate wellness activities, events, and educational initiatives tailored to the needs of our target audience. You will be expected to track program participation, analyze effectiveness, manage wellness communications, and collaborate with internal departments and external vendors to deliver impactful and engaging wellness solutions.
To be successful in this role, you must possess strong program management skills, a passion for health promotion, and excellent communication and interpersonal abilities to inspire and motivate individuals towards healthier choices.
  • Workshop Facilitation
  • Attend all sessions of the Health Kids in Health Homes (HKHH) workshops and the elementary school Fitness and Nutrition Workshops
  • Ensure all workshop documents are completed and submitted to Supervisor.
  • Clerical Tasks
  • Complete Data Entry as needed.
  • Prepare workshop packets

Job Requirements
Required
  • High School Graduate or GED
  • Equivalent work experience in lieu of diploma
  • One (1) year recent work experience with children

Preferred
  • Two (2)years of working with children in a classroom
