Responsibilities

The Patient Service Representative (PSR) demonstrates appropriate customer service and hospitality practices to enhance the perception of the all customers of the department as a healing and compassionate environment for both inpatient and outpatient setting. The PSR is to provide excellent customer service using professionalism and proficiency. Must be a person who pays attention to detail and likes to be a team player. This position is cross trained for and fills in for other members of the team as needed. Every employee is expected to support the goals and mission of Mercy Medical Center, in particular, the commitment to providing all patients easy access to high quality care, service and value. Mercy requires that all employees uphold its mission, including confidentiality of all patient and financial information and treating all patients with dignity and compassion


Requirements

Education:

  • Must possess High School Diploma or GED
  • Experience preferred in a fast paced OB/GYN practice, or healthcare/medical practice setting

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • Microsoft Word, Power Point, Excel
    • Microsoft Outlook
    • Meditech (if applicable to position)
    • Epic (if applicable to position)
    • Performance Manager/NetLearning

Other Skills

  • Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to utilize one or more of the following:
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language in an understandable manner.
  • Must be able to work independently and possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Must possess the ability to effectively communicate and deal tactfully with other personnel, visitors, patients, physicians, customers, and the general public.
  • Must be flexible, have personal integrity, and the ability to function effectively as a team with other employees.
