Overview

2026 Future Talent Program – Global Safety & Environment Intern. Rahway, NJ. Internship lasts up to 12 weeks, with one or more projects providing development and insight into Merck’s culture.

Responsibilities

Provide environmental, health, and safety (EHS) compliance and technical support to local site business partners related to compliance programs including General Occupational Safety, High‑Risk Work, Industrial Hygiene, and Air/Water/Waste Environmental programs.

Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelors or Master’s Degree in Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Biology or related technical program.
  • Completed at least 2 years of college coursework.
  • Able to work full time for 9‑12 weeks.
  • Critical thinking, communication, problem‑solving, and computer skills.
  • Ability to receive direction and implement changes.
  • Ability to analyze process inefficiencies and propose solutions.
Preferred Skills
  • Prior internship or work experience in EHS or chemical manufacturing.
  • Clear and concise communication.
  • Team player; ability to work in a small team.
