Job description

Hill House Home is seeking a strategic and results-driven Merchandise Planner, to join our New York team to support and expand the planning function across our growing direct-to-consumer business, including eCommerce and retail stores.
Reporting to the Director of Merchandise Planning, the Merchandise Planner will own financial forecasting and in-season strategies, proactively identifying risks and opportunities to maximize revenue and margin, while guiding allocation and inventory decisions to support overall business objectives.

What You'll Do:
  • Own the development and execution of pre-season and in-season financial plans by SKU, category, and collection, leveraging historical data, sales trends, and growth targets to maximize revenue and margin.
  • Lead weekly and monthly reporting, delivering clear, actionable insights to leadership and cross-functional teams.
  • Analyze business performance across sales, inventory, and margin; proactively identify risks and opportunities and present recommendations.
  • Partner closely with Merchandising, Design, Production, E-commerce, and Store Operations to align financial plans with product and channel strategies.
  • Own store allocation strategies and in-season replenishment, ensuring optimal inventory flow and productivity across a growing retail fleet.
  • Monitor inventory health (sell-through, weeks of supply, stock coverage) and recommend pricing and markdown strategies to drive efficiency.
  • Support product lifecycle management, including new launches, line reviews, and assortment optimization.
  • Maintain and champion data integrity and SKU-level accuracy across planning systems and reporting tools.
  • Contribute to monthly, quarterly, and annual business reviews, providing insights that inform strategic decision-making.
  • Drive continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance planning processes, tools, and reporting.
  • Conduct ad hoc analysis to support evolving business needs and leadership requests.
Who You Are:
  • 4-6+ years of experience in Merchandise Planning or Allocation, preferably within an omni-channel or DTC retail environment.
  • Advanced Excel skills with the ability to analyze large datasets and build dynamic, insightful reporting.
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate data into clear recommendations and business actions.
  • Confident communicator with experience presenting to and influencing cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proactive and solutions-oriented, with a track record of improving processes and driving results.
  • Collaborative and relationship-driven, with the ability to work effectively across teams.
