Job Summary:


Reid Supply is seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Data Analyst to join our Product Strategy team. This role blends data management, taxonomy optimization, customer support, and commercial insight to ensure our product offering is accurate, discoverable, and aligned with market needs. The ideal candidate will be a cross-functional collaborator who understands the importance of clean data, customer experience, and commercial performance


The Data Specialist is responsible for maintaining, enriching, and optimizing product information across digital and commercial platforms. This role ensures product data accuracy, taxonomy effectiveness, and product discoverability while supporting sales growth, customer experience, and operational efficiency.


Please Note: This is a hybrid job that requires working onsite in our Norton Shores, MI office 3 days per week. We are considering local candidates only. We are not providing sponsorship or relocation assistance at this time.


Typical Job Responsibilities:



Product Data & Taxonomy Management

• Develop and maintain product taxonomy and categorization across digital platforms.

• Ensure product data accuracy, completeness, and consistency across systems (PIM, ERP, eCommerce, and marketplaces).

• Support onboarding new products by validating attributes, specifications, and metadata.

• Collaborate with suppliers to standardize and enrich product data.

• Work closely within the Product team to identify NPI and category expansion opportunities.


Customer & Commercial Support

• Act as a product expert to assist customer service and sales teams with technical inquiries.

• Analyze customer feedback and support tickets to identify product data gaps or usability issues.

• Partner with commercial teams to align product data with pricing strategies, promotions, and market trends.

• Provide insights into product performance, customer behavior, and sales opportunities.


Data Analysis & Optimization

• Use tools like Excel, Power BI, and other tools to analyze product performance, search behavior, and taxonomy effectiveness.

• Monitor commercial and digital KPIs to improve product discoverability and business performance.

• Support SEO and digital merchandising efforts through optimized product content and structure.

• Establish and maintain product data standards, governance procedures, and documentation to ensure consistency across systems and business functions.

• Develop recurring reports and dashboards that provide insights into product performance, search behavior, customer engagement, and category growth opportunities.


Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Work closely with the purchasing team, sales, marketing, eCommerce and operations to ensure product data supports business objectives.

• Participate in product lifecycle management, including rationalization and enrichment initiatives.

• Provide training and documentation on taxonomy standards and product data best practices.

• Serve as the subject matter expert for product data and taxonomy, influencing cross-functional decisions related to product launches, category management, and digital commerce initiatives.



Qualifications:



• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Engineering, or a related field strongly preferred.

• Will consider Associate’s degree or equivalent experience and 2+ years of experience in product data management, taxonomy, or eCommerce. 

• Experience with PIM systems, ERP platforms, and digital catalogues. 

• Be a detail-oriented individual. 

• Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret and utilize data to drive sound decisions.

• Strong proficiency in MS Excel and other data management platforms.

• Ability to manage projects and work through challenges to completion. 

• Excellent communication and organizational skills. 

• Commercial mindset with an understanding of product positioning and customer needs. 

• Team player with excellent collaboration skills.

• Experience in industrial components distribution or manufacturing is strongly preferred.

• Project management experience and attention to detail.

• Experience maintaining large product datasets within ERP, PIM, eCommerce, or marketplace platforms.
