MEP Coordinator

Help Build Exceptional Projects with Vogel Bros. Building Co.

Vogel Bros. Building Co. is seeking a knowledgeable and motivated MEP Coordinator to support our project teams in delivering high-quality commercial construction projects. In this role, you'll provide technical expertise for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems from preconstruction through commissioning while collaborating with Project Managers, Superintendents, VDC, subcontractors, and owners.


Purpose and Scope

In accordance with Vogel Bros. Building Co.’s beliefs / values / mission / vision, the MEP Coordinator acts as a resource to Vogel Bros’ project teams for complex MEP systems as needed to support operations through various stages of a project lifecycle. The MEP Coordinator provides guidance and support to ensure high levels of quality for Vogel Bros’ projects and works to set expectations for the design, planning & installation, and commissioning of MEP systems. The MEP Coordinator is primarily project based and reports to the MEP Project Manager. The MEP Coordinator is also required to stay flexible to the needs of the company and fill in where assigned.


What You'll Do

  • Coordinate and support MEP systems throughout all phases of construction.
  • Participate in BIM coordination and resolve design conflicts.
  • Review drawings and specifications for constructability and quality.
  • Assist with subcontractor coordination, startup, testing, and commissioning.
  • Promote jobsite safety and help ensure projects are completed on time and to the highest standards.

  • Assist Vogel’s project teams by providing knowledge or expertise related to MEP systems.
  • Become familiar with all project drawings/specifications as necessary to provide support to project teams as required.
  • Assist the VDC Manager during the BIM coordination process of a project and assist in resolving clashes/conflicts as they arise.
  • Attend BIM meetings as needed to provide technical guidance or best practices for project teams during the coordination phase of the project.
  • Assist the MEP Project Manager with constructability/document reviews for MEP scopes and inform project team of conflicts to ensure high levels of quality for MEP design documents.
  • Assists the Project Manager in the buyout of the project, including negotiating and issuing subcontracts and purchase orders for MEPs.
  • Support Vogel Bros. safety program and attend on site JHAs for MEP subcontractors.
  • Assists the MEP Project Manager with implementing a detailed startup/testing, and commissioning schedule to aid in the overall project schedule development for each project assigned.
  • Participates in any pre-installation meetings for MEP contractors needed for projects.
  • Assists MEP Project Manager with documenting quality incidents, lessons learned and best practices for MEP systems.
  • Assist project team with defining MEP mockup requirements and coordinate any 1st installation verifications for MEPs as required.
  • Assist in organizing MEP training events for Vogel Bros. employees.
  • Organize project team and MEP trades for the startup, testing and commissioning phase of the project.
  • Assist project team by utilizing tracking matrices to organize MEP startup teams, meet schedule expectations, and resolve startup issues.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • MEP Project Engineers, if assigned.
