Assistant Men's Soccer Coach
Department: Athletics
Employment Type: Full-Time, 12-Month Staff
Salary: $25,000–$30,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications
Reports To: Head Men's Soccer Coach

What We're Looking For
Ferrum College is seeking an enthusiastic, motivated, and student-centered Assistant Men's Soccer Coach to help build and sustain a competitive NCAA Division II men's soccer program. This individual will assist the Head Coach in all aspects of the program, including recruiting, coaching, player development, program administration, compliance, and student-athlete success.
This position offers an exciting opportunity for a coach who is passionate about developing student-athletes both on and off the field while contributing to a culture of excellence, accountability, and teamwork.
Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in all aspects of the men's soccer program, including practices, competitions, recruiting, and daily operations.
  • Recruit, evaluate, and retain qualified student-athletes while ensuring compliance with NCAA Division II and Conference Carolinas regulations.
  • Plan and conduct individual and team training sessions focused on technical, tactical, and physical development.
  • Evaluate player performance and provide instruction and mentorship that supports athletic and personal growth.
  • Monitor academic progress and encourage student-athlete success in the classroom.
  • Assist with budgeting, team travel, equipment management, scheduling, and facility coordination.
  • Maintain recruiting, eligibility, and compliance records in accordance with NCAA, conference, and institutional policies.
  • Support fundraising initiatives, alumni engagement, youth camps, and community outreach activities.
  • Assist with game preparation, scouting, and game-day operations.
  • Supervise graduate assistants, interns, and student workers as assigned.
  • Promote student-athlete health, safety, wellness, and sportsmanship.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and travel as required.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Commitment to NCAA Division II, Conference Carolinas, and institutional compliance.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree.
  • Collegiate playing and/or coaching experience.
  • Collegiate recruiting experience.
  • Knowledge of NCAA Division II rules and regulations.
  • Experience mentoring and developing student-athletes in a higher education environment.
