Job description

Position Summary:

Responsible for the supervision and safety of children, while providing high quality Prime Time programs that allow for positive interaction with children and their families.
Reports To:
Child Care Director

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Include the following. Other duties may be assigned
  • Assist in maintaining the necessary records involving attendance and sign-in/out sheets. When releasing child(ren), insure the proper release procedures are followed and appropriate identification is shown. Inform parents of the system used for accountability of the children.
  • Be prepared to describe the program features and procedures.
  • Maintain good public relations with parents and direct serious matters to the Coordinator or Program Director.
  • Set up and break down equipment as necessary.
  • Responsible for the health and safety of Prime Time participants. Cautioning them regarding unsafe practices and conditions.
  • Perform rescue/first aid when necessary. Report accidents and injuries and complete incident reports. Maintain a neat, clean and pleasant environment.
  • Report deficiencies in equipment and supplies to the Coordinator or Program Director.
  • Arriving prepared for the scheduled shift, which includes arriving for duty 15 minutes prior; in proper attire; prepared for constant concentration and visual surveillance of participants with no distractions
  • Find coverage for self in the event of an absence and then notify the Coordinator or Program Director of the change.
  • Responsible for attending staff meetings/events. Demonstrate and teach the Character Development values of caring, respect, responsibility and honesty.
  • Be a member service ambassador remaining abreast of current programs and facility schedules.
  • Being prepared to provide personalized direction to other YMCA services.
