We are currently looking for a Director of Memory Care for The Barclay at Charlottesville
Primary Responsibilities of the Director of Memory Care:
  • Provides input and ideas for the development of the annual activities calendar, which includes an annual theme that is developed into a monthly calendar.
  • Successfully oversees and implements the memory care activity calendar daily.
  • Coordinates all aspects of quarterly events with the dietary department, marketing department, wellness department and maintenance department. Works with the Director of Wellness to ensure adequate staff are available to assist Memory Care residents during extraordinary events, community outings, holiday meals and theme nights.
  • Develops a monthly Memory Care calendar that provides opportunities for residents to socialize and enjoy recreational activities each day, including weekends.
  • Maintains documentation on each resident's participation, scores, and progress. Develops a personal profile for each resident on the iN2L and trains personal assistants on how to utilize the profiles to enhance the lives of all residents.
  • Ensures that Memory Care Program is implemented for each resident at the time of admission. Follow-up with residents and family members after admission. Assists new residents in adjusting to their unique environment and schedule. Design a plan for new residents to be placed at a dining table with other residents who share similar interests and socialization abilities.

Requirements
  • Must have a caring heart.
  • 2 years of experience working with the senior population, preferably with memory impaired residents and in a long-term care and/or health care setting.
  • A high school diploma and/or GED are required.
  • Working knowledge of MS Word, PowerPoint, and Publisher to develop a calendar.
  • Must have and maintain a safe driving record.
  • Possessing specific skills involving building life station, art, crafts, design, imagination and innovative planning for activities and events is required.
