We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Technical Project Manager with a strong background in healthcare technology, EHR integrations, and data interoperability. This individual will be responsible for driving the successful execution of clinical data integration projects, collaborating across teams to ensure smooth onboarding, timely delivery, and efficient communication between Tempus and healthcare partners. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of EHR workflows, HL7/FHIR integrations, and project management best practices to enable streamlined implementation.
Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage multiple EHR integration and data ingestion projects, ensuring timelines, deliverables, and stakeholder expectations are met.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between external healthcare organizations, internal engineering teams, and clinical stakeholders, facilitating clear communication and project alignment.
  • Define project scope, timelines, risks, and dependencies while developing detailed implementation plans and workflows.
  • Coordinate with technical teams on HL7 v2, FHIR API, and data transformation requirements to support interoperability.
  • Work closely with clinical informatics, engineering, and support teams to ensure data quality, compliance, and usability.
  • Manage customer expectations, ensuring a seamless experience during implementation, testing, and go-live support.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities to enhance efficiency, scalability, and automation in the integration workflow.
  • Maintain and refine project documentation, best practices, and training materials to support ongoing optimization efforts.

Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Strong understanding of healthcare interoperability standards (HL7 v2, FHIR, CDA, X12) and data exchange processes.
  • Familiarity with API-based integrations (REST, OAuth 2.0) and data transformation workflows.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, balancing priorities and resource constraints.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to anticipate project risks, dependencies, and mitigation strategies.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Salesforce reporting
  • Familiarity with formats: JSON, XML
  • Understanding with document repositories: OnBase, Epic Blob
  • Understanding with integration engines: Iguana, Ellkay, CorePoint, Cloverleaf, etc
  • Familiarity with EMRs: Epic, Flatiron, McKesson iKnowMed, Meditech, etc.
  • Understanding of database platforms (On-Prem & Cloud-based): SQL Server, MySQL, AWS Redshift, Google PostgreSQL, Oracle
  • Experience with healthcare terminology concept codes (SNOMED, ICD-10, LOINC, etc.)
  • Knowledge of oncology or genomic data

$135,000-$165,000
The expected salary range above is applicable if the role is performed from Illinois and may vary for other locations (California, Colorado, New York). Actual salary may vary based on qualifications and experience.
