Job description

The J.R. Simplot Company is a diverse, privately held global food and agriculture company headquartered in Boise, Idaho. We are a true farm-to-table company with an integrated portfolio including food processing and food brands, phosphate mining, fertilizer manufacturing, farming, ranching and cattle production, and other enterprises related to agriculture.
Summary
This position coordinates & dispatches all movements for Simplot Fleet across multiple regions. The Scheduler role ensures customer product movement needs are met and partners with internal production and material schedulers to ensure capacity is adequate to over service plants, warehouses, and other customers.
Key Responsibilities
  • Responsible to role model and prioritize safety at Transportation locations
  • Schedules all assets across all terminals for a variety of commodities ranging from bulk to temp sensitive products.
  • Create, modify, and reconcile all freight orders in transportation management system
  • Partners with non-Company contractors and resources to cover loads when additional product is needed to meet business needs.
  • Responsible to document and escalate Truck Driver and/or non-Company contractor performance issues to the supervisors
  • Responsible to audit daily volumes, confirm daily objectives are met, & record variances or changes to shift schedules

Typical Education
Associate's Degree (A.A. or equivalent)
Relevant Experience
  • 1-2 years related experience and/or training
  • Knowledge of transportation planning and scheduling principles and practices
  • Demonstrated understanding of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Working knowledge of regulatory agency policies and procedures, including FMCSA, DOT, OSHA, and EPA requirements
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to identify complex issues, analyze situations, and implement effective problem-solving solutions.

Other Information
Schedule: Sunday - Thursday night shift (5:00 PM-1:00 AM) with flexibility to work a 12-hour shift (5:00 PM-5:00 AM) as needed to provide PTO coverage.
Night Shift Differenicial: Employees working night shift receive an additional $1.00 per hour on top of their regular rate of pay.
