Job description

This position works in concert with the management team and partners in overseeing clinical and developmental activities of the MedSpa. The role of a Medical Director in a medical spa is pivotal for ensuring the facility operates within the regulatory framework of the healthcare industry while also delivering high-quality medical aesthetics services.

This position may be an independent contractor, W2 employee or partner.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

1. The medical director must possess a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree, which validates their knowledge of medical principles and practices. A state medical license is essential as it authorizes them to oversee medical procedures at the MedSpa located within that state.

3. Extensive experience in aesthetic and non-surgical procedures is crucial. This includes familiarity with injectables, laser treatments, skin rejuvenation techniques, and other cosmetic procedures that the MedSpa offers.

4. Aesthetic Medicine Training and Certification

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

1.    Superior interpersonal and communications skills.

2.    Decisive leadership with above-average judgment.

3.    Trustworthiness and impartiality.

4.    Ability to build and support internal consensus on key issues among partners.

5.    Ability to properly represent practice interests in interactions with outside entities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Clinical Oversight: The Medical Director is responsible for overseeing all clinical operations in the MedSpa. This includes performing and supervising treatments, ensuring that all procedures are performed safely and effectively, and that they meet the highest standards of care.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensuring that the MedSpa complies with all local, state, and federal regulations. This involves regularly updating protocols and procedures, maintaining proper documentation, and ensuring that all staff are trained in compliance standards.
  • Leadership Skills: Strong leadership skills are essential for managing staff, overseeing operations, and ensuring a professional environment. The ability to train and mentor medical and administrative personnel is also vital.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills are required to effectively interact with both staff and clients, explaining treatment options and outcomes clearly and professionally.
  • Inter-MedSpa Communication and Consensus:  Ensures MedSpa Team is informed of key issues, actively solicits and considers opinions of the Team, and helps create and maintain an appropriate consensus for group decision-making as needed.
  • Treatment Plan Approval: Reviewing and approving treatment plans for patients to ensure they align with medical guidelines and meet the patients’ desired outcomes.
  • MedSpa Staff Management and Training: Recruiting, training, and managing staff, including conducting performance reviews and providing ongoing education and training in the latest aesthetic techniques and safety protocols.
  • Quality Control: Implementing quality control measures to maintain high standards in patient care. This includes monitoring treatment outcomes, handling any complications, and making improvements as needed.
  • Policy Development: Developing and updating policies and procedures that govern the day-to-day operations of the MedSpa. This ensures that all practices align with current medical standards and regulations.
  • Patient Consultations: Although not always involved in day-to-day treatments, the Medical Director may consult on complex cases or new clients to determine the most appropriate treatment plans.
  • Business Strategy: Participating in strategic planning for the MedSpa, including services offered, technology investments, and business growth strategies.
  • Continuing Education: Participates in all required CE + Annual Advanced Training Techniques for all services provided.
