Software Verification Manager, Medical Software
Valencia, California - Onsite
Join a global leader in medical technology where innovation, quality, and patient impact come together. We are seeking an experienced Software Verification Manager to lead software verification and testing activities for regulated medical software products. This is an outstanding opportunity to build and develop a high-performing verification team while driving software quality across new product development, product enhancements, and sustaining releases.
What You'll Do
  • Lead software verification activities across multiple regulated medical software products.
  • Manage, coach, and develop Software Test Engineers, SDETs, and Manual Test Engineers.
  • Define verification strategies and ensure comprehensive test coverage across functional, integration, system, regression, acceptance, exploratory, interface, and cybersecurity testing.
  • Review requirements, specifications, architecture, and risk documentation to establish verification scope.
  • Ensure requirements-based testing, risk-based testing, bidirectional traceability, and defensible verification evidence.
  • Develop and approve verification plans, protocols, traceability matrices, test cases, verification reports, and controlled quality documentation.
  • Participate in hands-on testing, including test case development, execution, defect investigation, and result analysis when needed.
  • Lead defect management, regression planning, retesting, and issue resolution.
  • Oversee manual and automated testing strategies while improving automation effectiveness.
  • Support audits, regulatory submissions, notified body reviews, and Design History File documentation.
  • Partner closely with Software Engineering, Firmware, Hardware, Systems Engineering, Quality Assurance, Regulatory Affairs, Cybersecurity, Product Management, Manufacturing, and Operations.
  • Drive continuous improvement of verification processes, documentation quality, team performance, and overall software quality.

What You'll Bring
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • 8+ years of experience in software testing, software verification, software quality assurance, or related software quality roles.
  • 5+ years of managment experience in software verification, software QA, SDET, or software testing teams.
  • Experience supporting regulated medical software products.
  • Strong understanding of software verification methodologies and quality practices.
  • Experience with requirements-based testing, traceability, risk-based testing, and controlled documentation.
  • Hands-on experience designing, executing, and reviewing software test cases.
  • Experience with manual and automated testing environments.
  • Strong collaboration skills across engineering, quality, regulatory, and product teams.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with IEC 62304, ISO 14971, ISO 13485, FDA QMSR, FDA software guidance, and medical device quality systems.
  • Experience supporting cybersecurity testing and software security verification.
  • Experience with BDD, Gherkin, automated regression testing, or modern test automation frameworks.
  • Experience supporting international regulatory submissions, EU MDR, or notified body reviews.
  • Experience improving software quality processes and verification efficiency.

A minimum of 200Mb/sec download and 10Mb/sec upload speed internet connectivity is required to support any remote/hybrid employee functionality at Sonova

This role's pay range is between $114K to $175K. This role is also bonus eligible. Compensation is based on location and experience.
