Loudoun Free Clinic is looking for a full-time Bilingual Spanish/English Certified Medical Assistant to work 40 hours per week to carry out our mission of administering care to our patient population of uninsured Loudoun County residents 300% below FPL. NO weekend or legal holiday work required!

Job Title: Medical Assistant

Department: Loudoun Free Clinic

Reports to: Clinical Director

Salary Level: Hourly (40 hours per week)

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt; Eligible for Overtime

Summary: Full-time, regular position for the purpose of providing bilingual Spanish/English nursing health care to Loudoun Free Clinic patients during scheduled day and evening clinics. You must be able to work the following schedule: Monday & Tuesday 8 am - 5 pm; Wednesday & Thursday 8 am - 8:30 pm. No weekend shifts Friday through Sunday & no holiday shifts.


Essential duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Essential Functions:

  • Brings patients back to exam rooms and prepares patients for physician by obtaining accurate medical history, vital signs, and other necessary clinical information
  • Assists with office procedures and treatments as defined.
  • Prepares lab specimens to send out to reference labs in accordance with laboratory guidelines.
  • Works with providers with discharge instructions and necessary patient follow-up and education. Includes calling in prescriptions in to pharmacies when necessary.
  • Assists in management of patient records to include documenting accurately in the electronic medical record.
  • Prepares rooms for procedures – ensures proper functioning of medical equipment and maintains adequate stock of supplies.
  • Ensures exam rooms are cleaned in between patients and at the end of the day.
  • Assists with case management duties: advocates, coordinates referrals and support to enhance care plan adherence for patients.
  • Works with the front office staff when clinical information is required to coordinate referrals and authorizations.
  • Works with Clinical team as needed to develop and implement clinical policies and procedures in accordance with internal and external regulations and guidelines.
  • Assists in the operations of the front desk area as needed such as making appointments, filing, medical records, scanning, sending recalls, etc.
  • Ensures medical equipment and supplies are adequately stocked and updated.
  • Works with other personnel in office to achieve department objectives.
  • Attends staff meetings on a regular basis.
  • Other duties as required in clinic.


Marginal Functions:

  • Performs other administrative and/or clinical duties as assigned to meet the practice goals and objectives.
  • Maintains professional growth and development through seminars, workshops, and professional affiliations.

Physical Demands:

- Constant near vision for charting.

- Frequently standing, walking, reaching, handling, fingering, feeling, talking,hearing,

mid-range vision, far vision, depth perception, visual accommodation and

field of vision.

- Occasionally sitting, reclining, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, climbing, balancing,

stooping, kneeling, crouching, color vision and tasting & smelling.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Graduate of accredited school in Certified Medical Assistant Program. Proof of medical assistant certification.

Bilingual in Spanish/English required.

CPR/BLS certified or willing to become certified with 30 days of employment.

Previous experience with EMR systems is required.

Previous experience in physician office setting preferred.

Previous case management experience is preferred.

Previous experience in lab procedures is preferred.

Nonprofit organization experience is preferred.

Some evening hours are REQUIRED.

Must have a driver's license & transportation.

Ability to lift 25-40 pounds.
