Job description

Northwest Respiratory Services is a leading provider of oxygen & respiratory products throughout the Midwest & Northern Rockies. Working from our Eagan, MN office, we are currently in search of a seasoned Billing Specialist. This position is responsible for full-cycle billing of Durable Medical Equipment (DME) claims, including claim submission, denial resolution, appeals, and accounts receivable follow-up. This role plays a critical part in reducing denials, improving cash flow, and ensuring compliance with Medicare DMEPOS and payer requirements. This is an in-person 5 days per week role in our Eagan, MN office. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Submit and monitor DME claims to Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payers 
  • Verify insurance, obtain authorizations
  • Research, correct, and resubmit denied/rejected claims 
  • Conduct A/R follow-ups and payment postings (EOBs, adjustments) 
  • Communicate with payers to resolve issues 
  • Ensure compliance with DMEPOS, HIPPA, and payer rules 
  • Maintain organized records and support audits 
  • Report trends in denials and recommended improvements 
  • Prepare appeals within payer deadlines

Key Qualifications: 

  • 1-2 years of full cycle medical billing experience, preferably in DME/HME
  • Well versed in medical insurance and terminology 
  • Great communication skills written and verbal, contacting insurances, facilities, patients, etc. 
  • Work individual feedback sessions, staff meetings and annual training and/or competency tests
