Job description

Essential Responsibilities
This position will be responsible for assisting the Engineering team with product and process development for new products, transfers, and sustaining projects.
  • Execute engineering studies supporting feasibility, process development, design verification and validation, and sustaining changes.
  • Review and provide feedback on assigned protocols, test plans, and data collection plans.
  • Build prototypes and development samples and execute controlled engineering builds.
  • Prepare, condition, label, and handle test samples in accordance with instructions while maintaining complete product traceability.
  • Operate test systems including but not limited to tensile test equipment, vision measurement systems, and basic metrology equipment such as calipers and micrometers.
  • Support and/or execute process validations, test method development, test method validations, development builds and testing, root cause analysis, and assembly line development.

  • Perfom test data analysis and identify unexpected results and protocol deviations. Organize and analyze data using Excel and Minitab; prepare tables, graphs, basic descriptive statistics, and clear study results.

  • Maintain day-to-day ownership of the engineering laboratory, including organization and 5S, material storage and sample disposition.
  • Communicate study status, risks, and issues; deliver complete work on schedule; and collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, and Operations on documentation, training, and continuous improvement.
  • Other duties as assigned by manager.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position is an individual contributor and has no direct supervisory responsibility.
Work Environment
This position operates in an office and manufacturing environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. The position also interacts with machinery on the manufacturing floor and numerous devices that are sold by the company.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Required Education and Experience
  • Associate degree or High School Diploma or equivalency
  • 7+ years' of process and manufacturing experience in a manufacturing facility
  • Experience following work instructions, process documentation and procedures to ensure safe operating of all equipment while producing high quality work.
  • The ability to troubleshoot manufacturing processes using scientific principles and resolve issues related to production quality.
  • A team-driven attitude to work together and support department initiatives such as 5S.
  • The ability to complete production paperwork, which includes inventory accuracy.
  • Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Medical device industry or regulated industry experience preferred
