Purpose of Position
Nursing Assistant Performs as a member of the Nursing Team various duties assisting Staff Nurses in the treatment and care of patients in accordance with established policies and procedures. Patient Care Tech Responsible for EKG's, phlebotomy, gluco scans, suctioning, and the collection of sputum by means of suctioning.
Description
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Must be courteous to patients, customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  2. Identify and locate needed accessories to facilitate transport.
  3. Answering call lights.
  4. Making beds both empty and occupied.
  5. Setting up all equipment routinely used on their home base units.
  6. Preparing room for admission.
  7. Assist with patient discharges
  8. Removal of linens.
  9. Answering telephone.
  10. Must wear facility provided identification badge.
  11. Consistently provides service excellence to all patients, family member, visitors, volunteers, and co-workers.
  12. Facilitate communication to RNs to provide best care possible for patients
  13. Performs other work-related duties and activities as assigned or requested by his/her immediate supervisor.

Additional NURSING ASSISTANT PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Transports patients via wheelchairs and stretchers.
  2. Vital signs, oxygen saturation, weights, and non-invasive specimen collection.
  3. Turning and positioning patients, range of motion, ambulation, and toiletry.
  4. Assistance with all ADL's and complete care as needed.
  5. Setting up, assisting and educating patients, with commodes, bedpans, urinals, sitz baths, walkers, wheelchairs, slings, venodyne boots, crutches, specific precautions- with input from PT as needed
  6. Appropriate emptying and/or recording of all drainage devices.
  7. Postmortem care.
Patient Care Tech

1. Must be courteous to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
2. Takes and records patients' vital signs. Dresses wounds, gives enemas, douches, alcohol rubs, and
massages.
3. Applies compresses, ice bags, and hot water bottles.
4. Observes patients and reports adverse reactions to medication or treatment to medical personnel in
charge.
5. Administers specified medication, orally or by subcutaneous or intermuscular injection, and notes time
and amount on patients' charts.
6. Assembles and uses such equipment as catheters, tracheotomy tubes, and oxygen suppliers.
7. Collects samples, such as urine, blood, and sputum, from patients for testing and performs routine
laboratory tests on samples.
8. Sterilizes equipment and supplies.
9. Prepares or examines food trays for prescribed diet and feeds patients. Records food and fluid intake
and output.
10. Bathes, dresses, and assists patients in walking and turning.
11. Cleans rooms, makes beds, and answers patients' calls.
12. Washes and dresses bodies of deceased persons.
13. Assists in delivery, care, and feeding of infants.
14. Inventories and requisitions supplies.
15. Performs tracheotomy care, colostomy care, wound care and dressing changes.
16. Demonstrates through clinical practice the use of universal precautions, understands the OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Standards.
17. Demonstrates a thorough knowledge and/or practice in the prevention of TB transmission and adheres
to all other infection control policies.
18. Must wear facility provided identification badge at all times
