Job description

Greenville University is seeking applications for a tenure-track open rank professor with expertise in a medically related biology field. The successful candidate will teach courses in the Department of Biology & Chemistry and serve as a mentor to biology students interested in health-related careers. Preferred requirements include a minimum of a master's degree in biology or related field (PhD preferred). Candidates with terminal degrees in the medical field (MD, DO, PharmD, DVM, etc.) would also be strongly considered. A commitment to excellence in teaching and mentoring undergraduate students in a robust learning community is expected. The selected candidate must provide evidence of a vibrant Christian faith, clearly understand, and internalize the mission of Greenville University, and articulate the value of Christian higher education.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Teach courses in the areas related to Medical Biology. Courses could include General Biology, Microbiology, Genetics, Molecular Biology, Biostatistics, or general education science course (as needed)
• Collaborate closely with other faculty in the Department of Biology & Chemistry to develop new courses (in candidate's area). Examples of potential courses of interest include Pharmacology, Immunology, Healthcare Administration, Health Information Management, Epidemiology, Bioethics, or Research-based courses or seminars (among others)
• Engage in development or support of student-led research projects (in coursework or within our summer research program)
• Provide career mentoring to students in biology in collaboration with our dedicated academic advising department
• Recruit students and support student retention efforts
• Serve on Department and University committees
• Perform other responsibilities as defined by the University

• Graduate degree in the biological sciences or health professions (broadly defined)
• A demonstrated, vibrant Christian faith compatible with the mission of Greenville University
• A commitment to excellence in teaching in the context of an undergraduate, liberal arts education
• Experience in engaging students in learning in settings that may include classroom, laboratory, and online
• Knowledge of their field with a willingness to engage undergraduate students in research
• Desire to mentor undergraduate students in vocational, academic, research, and career goals
• Desire to incorporate hands-on experiential learning in the classroom and lab settings
• A commitment to the integration of Christian faith with the discipline of biology and health careers
