Job description

We are a well-established Workers Compensation Medical Practice located in Encino, California, currently seeking an experienced Medical Billing Assistant. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate and compliant processing of Workers' Compensation medical bills, specifically for QME/AME doctors. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, familiar with medical billing codes, and capable of navigating the California Official Medical Fee Schedule (OMFS) to resolve billing discrepancies efficiently within a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Workers’ Compensation medical billing for QME/AME specialists
  • Analyze and verify complex medical bills for accuracy and compliance
  • Review and confirm correct use of medical billing codes (CPT, ICD-10, HCPCS)
  • Communicate regularly with medical providers to obtain information and resolve billing issues
  • Calculate outstanding balances based on the Official Medical Fee Schedule
  • Maintain a positive attitude and perform effectively in a high-paced environment
  • Work collaboratively as part of a dedicated billing team
  • Utilize billing software and office tools to manage billing processes

Required Qualifications

  • Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT codes, ICD-10 codes, and HCPCS
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, medical reports, state laws, and fee schedules
  • Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to meet deadlines in a high-pressure, time-sensitive environment
  • Comfortable using MS Word, MS Excel, email, and billing software

Preferred Qualifications

  • Entry-level experience in medical billing
  • Experience in Workers' Compensation billing and collections is a plus
