Our work changes lives and so does the behind-the-scenes team that ensures services are supported through accurate and compliant medical billing.

The Role

We are seeking a Medical Billing Specialist to support accurate claim submission, timely billing follow up, and professional communication with families and funding sources. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys detail-oriented work, understands healthcare billing processes, and can balance professionalism with empathy when addressing billing questions.

Responsibilities

  • Verify insurance eligibility and confirm coverage prior to services when needed
  • Coordinate with payers to obtain prior authorizations or approvals when required
  • Submit claims to Medicaid, commercial insurance carriers, and other funding sources through electronic billing systems
  • Review claim status and follow up with payers to resolve rejections, denials, and documentation issues
  • Work with clinical and administrative teams to ensure documentation supports clean claim submission
  • Communicate with families about billing questions, coverage, and payment responsibility as appropriate
  • Maintain accurate billing records and support reporting as needed
  • Occasionally travel to a local satellite office as needed

Qualifications

  • High school diploma
    • Assoc Degree preferred
  • Medical billing experience, including claim submission and payer follow up
    • Experience with Electronic Medical Billing Platforms preferred
  • Knowledge of Medicaid and commercial insurance billing processes
    • Familiarity with Ohio Medicaid billing guidelines preferred
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency with Excel, Outlook, and Microsoft Office
  • High attention to detail, strong organization, and ability to work independently
