Job description

Responsible for planning the bed placement for all patients entering inpatient or observation status. Tracks, performs and enforces all activities which involve the placement and movement of patients and helps to monitor efficient transfers and discharges. 
Principal Accountabilities:
1. Reviews the medical records of patients and provides the appropriate bed assignment that aligns with the physicians' orders and patient's needs. 
2. Coordinates admissions and transfers with the Patient Transfer Center, Physicians' offices, and other units within the hospital basis the assignment of the appropriate bed.
3. Obtains bed assignments for all internal patients (ED, PACU, ICU, etc.), and other units within the hospital to ensure proper bed placement.
4. Transfers patients in-house as needed, ensuring that critical transfers are given priority and while following hospital procedure.
5. Maintains proper documentation and completes bed control worksheets accurately.
6. Performs other related duties as assigned
