SUMMARY STATEMENT
The Medical Assistant Adjunct Instructor is responsible for delivering high-quality didactic, laboratory, clinical, and professional development instruction aligned with current Medical Assisting education standards, industry best practices, patient-centered care principles, and employer expectations. The successful candidate will foster student success by developing clinical competence, critical thinking, professionalism, ethical practice, communication skills, and readiness for national certification and employment in the medical assisting profession.
ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
A. The Adjunct Instructor for the Medical Assisting Program reports directly to and is responsible to the Allied Health Program Manager.
B. The coordinates most closely with the CNA and Medical Assisting Programs Coordinator and other program staff to support student learning and program success.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Teach Medical Assisting courses in classroom, online, laboratory, simulation, and clinical settings.
Deliver instruction in administrative, clinical, and laboratory procedures consistent with current industry standards and scope of practice.
Demonstrate and supervise clinical skills such as:
o Vital signs
o Medication administration
o Electrocardiography (EKG)
o Specimen collection and processing
o Assisting with examinations and minor office procedures
Evaluate student performance through examinations, projects, laboratory competencies, and clinical assessments.
Maintain accurate attendance, grades, competency records, and other required documentation.
Ensure compliance with institutional policies, accreditation standards, safety regulations, and clinical site requirements.
Utilize instructional technologies, learning management systems, and simulation equipment to enhance student learning.
Monitor student progress and provide timely feedback, remediation, and academic support.
Participate in curriculum review and program improvement activities as assigned.
Collaborate with program faculty, advisory committee members, healthcare partners, and college administration.
Maintain current knowledge of medical assisting practices, healthcare regulations, and educational methodologies.
Support student preparation for national certification examinations and workforce entry.
Promote an inclusive, respectful, and professional learning environment.
