JOB SUMMARY

The Medical Assistant (MA) supports physicians and licensed providers by performing both clinical and administrative duties in a medical office setting. This role is responsible for preparing patients for examinations, assisting with procedures, performing basic clinical tasks as permitted under California law, and ensuring efficient patient flow. The MA provides high-quality, patient-centered care while maintaining compliance with all federal, state, and organizational policies, including California’s Medical Practice Act and Medical Board of California regulations related to MA scope of practice.


The Medical Assistant is an entry- to mid-level clinical support role requiring strong attention to detail, excellent customer service, and adherence to safety and infection-control standards. This position works under the supervision of a licensed provider and may   support multiple specialties within the clinic.

Requirements:

MINIMUM & PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS


Education/Training

Minimum: High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of a Medical Assistant training program that meets California requirements (accredited or approved training program).

Experience 

Experience working in a medical office or outpatient clinic highly desirable


Certification(s)

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.

Medical Assistant certification (CCMA, RMA, CMA, or NCMA) preferred but not required unless mandated by specialty or payer programs.

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities

· Knowledge of clinical workflows, medical terminology, and basic anatomy/physiology.

· Understanding of California MA scope of practice and tasks requiring provider supervision.

· Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.

· Proficiency with EMR systems and basic computer applications.

· Ability to multitask, prioritize, and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

· Ability to maintain composure and professionalism when handling confidential or sensitive situations.

· Strong attention to detail and commitment to   accuracy.

PHYSICAL, MENTAL & ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

The physical demands described here are represented of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will regularly be required to walk, stand, bend, lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The employee is occasionally required to stand or stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must exhibit the ability to assist patients with mobility, positioning, or transfers as needed. The employee may be exposed to bodily fluids, chemicals, and infectious materials with required PPE provided. Work is performed in a standard outpatient medical office, exam room, and clinical setting. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus.

$25.00 - $28.00 / hourly
