Position Overview:
Title: Medical Assistant
Location: Tavarua Medical Rehabilitation Services
Schedule: Monday - Friday from 5:15 am - 1:45 pm.
Essential Job Functions
- Answer telephones, and direct calls to appropriate staff.
- Greet visitors, ascertain purpose of visit, and direct them to appropriate staff.
- Operate office equipment such as voice mail messaging systems, use spreadsheet for patient balances, and collect & document payments from patients as per clinic protocol.
- Complete insurance and other claim forms.
- Interview patients to complete documents, case histories, and forms such as intake and insurance forms.
- Receive and route messages and documents to appropriate staff.
- Compile and record medical charts, reports, and correspondence.
- Transmit correspondence and medical records by mail, e-mail, or fax.
- Maintain medical records, technical library and correspondence files.
- Create Monthly Patient Cards in a Timely Manner and put patient information in the computer.
- Check messages every morning and submit them to the manager
- Prepare all mandated reports, documentation, and other requirements, in a timely fashion.
- Back-office experience preferred.
- MAT/OTP/NTP experience a plus.
- Knows and follow protocol for U/A’s (including entering in the computer)
- Assist in other non-assigned duties.

- Adheres to facility standards concerning attendance, punctuality and dress code.
- Participate in quality improvement activities such as Outcome Measures and Client Satisfaction Surveys.
- Report unsafe conditions to appropriate personnel.
- Skill in organizing and prioritizing paperwork.
- Ability to adhere to safety policies and procedures.
- Assure patient’s rights are upheld.
- Knows and follows protocol for staff and patient emergencies.
- Ability to analyze situations, evaluate date, recommend/implement courses of action that would improve the functioning of program/processes he/she is involved in.
Job Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program Diploma (Certified)
- Current BLS/CPR certification
- One year of Medical Assistant experience in a clinic or physician office.
- Attend mandatory trainings at our training facility
