Job description

Certified Medical Assistant

At VA Health & Wellness Center, we're redefining healthcare by helping patients become healthier, happier, and more confident through medical weight loss, peptide therapy, and personalized wellness programs. We're looking for a Medical Assistant who genuinely enjoys connecting with people and wants to be part of a fast-growing practice that changes lives every day.

This isn't your typical primary care office where you'll room patients all day. Our Medical Assistants play a vital role in creating an exceptional patient experience—from the moment a patient walks through our doors to the day they reach their health goals. You'll work closely with our providers, educate patients on their treatment plans, perform body composition scans, prepare injections, assist with follow-up care, and ensure every patient feels supported throughout their journey.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Welcome patients and create a warm, professional, five-star experience.
  • Prepare patients for provider visits by collecting vitals, medical history, and updating charts.
  • Perform body composition scans and explain the process to patients.
  • Prepare and administer injections under provider supervision.
  • Educate patients on medication instructions, injection techniques, nutrition, hydration, and protein goals.
  • Assist providers during consultations and follow-up appointments.
  • Schedule appointments, manage patient communication, and answer questions with confidence and compassion.
  • Maintain accurate documentation in the EMR while following HIPAA guidelines.
  • Work as part of a close-knit team dedicated to delivering outstanding patient outcomes.

Who We're Looking For

  • A positive, energetic personality with excellent communication skills.
  • Someone who loves building relationships and making patients feel comfortable.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable educating patients and explaining treatment plans.
  • Medical Assistant experience is preferred, especially in weight loss, aesthetics, family medicine, or wellness.
  • Experience with injections and phlebotomy is a plus.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a bonus but not required.

Why Join Us?

You'll be joining a rapidly growing wellness clinic where every day is different. We believe in creating an outstanding experience for both our patients and our team. If you're passionate about health, enjoy helping people transform their lives, and want to grow your career in modern healthcare, we'd love to meet you.

Compensation:

$21 - $25 hourly

Responsibilities:
  • Fill out the appropriate insurance forms and document patient appointments, listing all symptoms, test results, diagnoses, treatment instructions, and prescriptions on the patient records
  • Assist healthcare staff with examinations by handing the appropriate medical instrument and supplies to the physician, positioning the patient, and helping with other tasks as needed
  • Collect blood samples from patients and send to the lab for testing
  • Get examination rooms ready for patients by ensuring the rooms are well-stocked and at a comfortable temperature and all equipment is sterilized
  • Record patient vital signs including body temperature, respiration rate, blood pressure, and pulse and add the information to their chart
  • Provide medication as instructed by providers and protocol

Qualifications:
  • Passed Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) exam to obtain certification from the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or other certifying agency
  • Great communication and customer service skills
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Completed an accredited medical assisting program and an externship in a supervised healthcare setting
