Job description

Medical Assistant Instructor – Temporary (Lab Assistant)

Location: Pima Medical Institute - Colorado Springs Campus | On-Site

Position Type: Temporary (July – September) | 10 Hours/Week + Lab Assistant as Needed

Compensation: $23.00 – $27.00 per hour

Pima Medical Institute is seeking an experienced and certified Medical Assistant to serve as a Temporary Instructor and Lab Assistant at our Colorado Springs campus. This is a great opportunity to step into education on a flexible schedule while providing coverage July through September — with the potential for a more permanent role for the right candidate.

Schedule:

  • Morning: Tuesdays & Thursdays, 8:00 AM – 12:00 PM (PRN)
  • Afternoon: Tuesdays & Thursdays, 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and deliver engaging lesson plans that accommodate diverse learning styles and meet established curriculum objectives.
  • Provide hands-on lab support and assist students with clinical skill development.
  • Evaluate and grade student coursework and assignments within 72 hours.
  • Maintain regularly scheduled office hours to advise and assist students.
  • Communicate proactively with leadership regarding student academic or behavioral concerns.
  • Coordinate guest speakers, clinical site visits, and student externship supervision.
  • Maintain accurate and complete student records including attendance, incident reports, and early alerts.
  • Enforce safety and security standards for students, staff, and visitors.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant program OR minimum 3 years of equivalent job-related training and experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of full-time practical Medical Assistant experience.
  • Current, unencumbered national MA certification (CMA or RMA); willingness to obtain certification if not currently held.
  • Applicable state and local professional credentials as required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital communication tools.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior classroom or lab teaching experience.
  • Advanced clinical expertise in a specialty area.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Competitive Pay: $23.00 – $27.00 per hour.
  • Flexible scheduling — 10 hours/week plus lab assistant coverage as needed.
