Job description

Atlanta Technical College (ATC) is seeking highly qualified applicants for it's Full-Time Instructor (Medical Assisting Program) in the Health & Public Safety department of the Academic and Student Affairs division. ย This position is located on Atlanta Technical College's Main campus, just South of Downtown Atlanta.ย 

Under general supervision of the Dean of Health & Public Safety Technologies and the Program Chair of the Medical Assisting department, the Full-Time Instructor (Medical Assisting Program) is responsible for delivering didactic, laboratory, and clinical instruction in accordance with program objectives, institutional policies, and accreditation standards (e.g., Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs). The Full-Time Instructor (Medical Assisting Program) supports student success, maintains regulatory compliance, and contributes to continuous program improvement and workforce readiness

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but may not be limited to the following:

  • Teach courses in administrative, clinical, and laboratory medical assisting.
  • Deliver instruction in areas including Medical Terminology, Pharmacology, Anatomy & physiology, Clinical procedures, Electronic Health Records (EHR), Medical law & ethics.
  • Develop lesson plans aligned with CAAHEP standards and curriculum frameworks.

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Facilitate skills labs including Phlebotomy, Injections and medication administration, EKG acquisition, Vital signs and patient assessment.

  • Evaluate student performance using formative and summative assessments.
  • Assist with clinical site placement and evaluation.
  • Maintain communication with externship/preceptor sites.

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Ensure students meet competencies required by credentialing bodies such as: American Association of Medical Assistants, National Health Career Association, American Medical Technologists

  • Provide academic advising and mentoring.
  • Monitor attendance, professionalism, and academic progress of students.
  • Offer remediation and tutoring as needed.
  • Promote certification exam preparation (e.g., CMA, RMA, CCMA).
  • Participate in program review and outcomes assessment.
  • Maintain documentation for accreditation and state regulatory compliance.
  • Serve on advisory boards and faculty committees.
  • Track graduate placement and credentialing pass rates.
  • Maintain current industry credentials.
  • Participate in continuing education.
  • Stay current with changes in healthcare regulations and scope of practice.

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Maintain qualifications for employment as described by the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) and accreditation standards.ย 

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Follows rules and regulations as described by the Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) and other policies and procedures established by the institution; and

ย ย ย ย ย ย  Perform additional duties, as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

Must possess and demonstrate the following:

  • Associate's degree or higher in Medical Assisting or related healthcare field from an accredited college or university (Bachelor's degree preferred).

ย ย ย ย ย ย ย  Current credentials such as: CMA (AAMA), RMA (AMT) or CCMA (NHA)

  • Three (3) - five (5) years of recent clinical experience in ambulatory care.
  • Teaching or training experience is a plus.
  • Proficiency in EHR systems and Microsoft Office.
