Job description

This position is responsible for the oversight and direct supervision of Medical Assistants that work with Physicians. This position is responsible for ensuring that staff is efficient, professional and providing exceptional patient service. Ensures daily functions are properly staffed to accommodate patient flow and that operations run smoothly throughout the day. Trains and develops employees to achieve the goals and objectives of the functional areas.
The position is responsible to ensure policies and procedures for areas of responsibility are adhered to, monitors performance of staff, and resolves patient care and departmental issues. Duties and assignments may vary at the discretion of management.
Responsibilities
  • Manage, Implement and maintain workflow processes of staff and patients in the clinic to improve patient experience. Works with Clinic Leadership on clinic workflow issues and staffing opportunities.
  • Ensures that staff consistently interact with patients, clients, and staff in a manner that reflects favorably on the organization and promotes teamwork. Resolves patient care and departmental issues involving staff in areas of responsibility, utilizing tact and diplomacy.
  • Maintains policies and procedures for areas of responsibility, ensuring compliance and consistent application.
  • Improves best practices to meet MIPS and OCF performance data.
  • Effectively supervises all medical assistant staff members. Monitors day-to-day staffing requirements for medical assistants and adjusts staffing as needed. Addresses fluctuating workloads based upon patient flow and physician schedules.
  • Assist with hiring process for potential candidates for assigned area.
  • Supports and assists Clinic Leadership in providing the best quality service to physicians, patients and support staff at cCARE in a professional and timely manner.
  • Ensures staff complies with HIPAA regulations.
  • Creates an accurate monthly calendar of staff schedules, effectively coordinating and approving time-off requests. Monitors and eliminated overtime usage and missed meal penalties.
  • Effectively maintains staff performance standards and competencies and provides ongoing leadership, support, and guidance. Effectively trains and orients new staff members. Delivers performance reviews, coaching and corrective action.
  • Ensures that staff are demonstrating good use of time and resources.
  • Knows and consistently implements the organization's mission and all approved policies, protocols and procedures.
  • Delegates duties to medical assistants as appropriate in relation to their level of training and experience and in consideration of their daily job performance and level of professionalism.
  • Addresses patients with a compassionate, friendly and caring attitude.
