Job description

The Pain Clinic Medical Assistant performs a variety of patient care and technical duties to support the work of the providers and to facilitate delivery of care and education to patients.  The Medical Assistant works closely with the professional staff to provide care and diagnostic testing for adult patients.  Electronic medical record and physician office experience preferred.  

$2,000 Sign on Bonus (New graduates are not eligible, must have completed or be enrolled in a Nursing/Health sciences program OR be a Certified Nursing Assistant to receive bonus)

Principal Duties & Essential Functions:

  1. Strives to maintain an attitude of professionalism, service-orientation and courtesy toward patients, physicians and all outside agencies in order to support the hospital’s commitment to providing exceptional patient care. 
  2. Liaison between Pain Center, Patient Access/Patient Registration and any other pertinent hospital departments. 
  3. Provides general patient care services, including but not limited to check-in/check-out of patients, taking patient’s vital information, conversing with patients to complete records including medical and social history, charting by entering all data into electronic health records adhering to all documentation regulatory requirements.
  4. Prepares patient exam rooms to ensure they are ready for patients and doctors. Keeps the exam rooms stocked with supplies needed to perform patient assessments. Responsible for keeping exam rooms clean while adhering to infection control policies and procedures.
  5. Coordinates patient appointments for Pain Clinic, procedures or diagnostic testing as necessary.
  6. Assists nursing staff with the clinical care phone line by triaging patient calls and functions as a liaison between the patient and their family and the health care team.
  7. Performs other related duties as required. Supports schedulers and practice coordinator as needed.
