Job description

Medical Assistant Certified Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the clinic supervisor, the medical assistant is responsible for the receiving of patients, preparing the patients to be seen by the provider, and assisting the provider as requested in the delivery of care to the patient. The medical assistant works with patients and is knowledgeable with regard to the clinic's patient education program and provides educational materials to the patient when appropriate. The medical assistant is also responsible for the maintenance of supplies and equipment.
  • Completes any required appointment prep process in advance of the patient's scheduled appointment.
  • Routinely and appropriately prepares exam rooms for patient appointments and potential procedures.
  • Maintains an even patient flow that enables provider to maximize treatment time and patient volume.
  • Rooms the patient and gathers any required information and vitals from the patient per the provider's preferences.
  • Documents patient care information in the electronic health record accurately and timely.
  • Performs basic treatments and procedures as well as administers medication accurately, completely, and safely as ordered by provider and according to approved procedures. Demonstrates competence with specific clinical skills. Demonstrates familiarity with clinic/hospital policy and procedures.
  • Schedules any necessary follow-up appointments/tests, informs patients, and answers patient questions regarding these appointments/tests.
  • Maintains a knowledge level regarding services provided by the provider and takes time to answer patient questions regarding these services in a sincere and courteous manner either in person or by phone.
  • Provides instructions/educational material to patients appropriate to their needs and follow-up/discharge instructions. Feedback indicates communication is positively perceived and is clear, concise, relevant, and understood.
  • Communicates concisely and clearly to provider, supervisor, co-workers, and ancillary departments.
  • Works continually to maintain/improve knowledge and skills to uphold professional practice standards.
  • Attends meetings, completes training modules, and reviews emails as assigned to maintain current knowledge of workflows and information.
  • Demonstrates clear understanding and proficient use of all computer programs.
  • Prioritizes work in a manner that balances the different needs of the department and others. Displays a cooperative attitude regardless of assignments or workload.

Medical Assistant Certified Requirements:
  • High School
  • Medical Assistant Program preferred
  • Entry Level
  • Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association or the ability to obtain certification within 6 weeks of hire.
  • Current medical assistant certification or registration
  • Knowledge of telephone etiquette, typing, computer, calculator, copy machine, and use of fax machine and essential medical assistant duties as identified below.

Salary Range: $19.00 to $28.00/hr (based on experience)
