Job description

Certified Medical Assistant — Cardiology Practice (Houston, TX)

Location: Houston, TX (77002) and Pearland, TX (77584)

Employment Type: Full-time, On-site

About Us

We are a growing cardiology private practice serving the Houston and Pearland communities. Our team of board-certified cardiologists provides comprehensive cardiovascular care, including interventional and non-invasive services. We are looking for a dependable, patient-focused Certified Medical Assistant to join us as we build a practice known for clinical excellence and exceptional patient experience.

Position Summary

The Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) supports our physicians and clinical team in delivering high-quality cardiovascular care. This role blends direct patient care, cardiology-specific diagnostic testing, and administrative support in a fast-paced outpatient setting.

Key Responsibilities

•       Room patients, obtain and record vital signs, height, weight, and medical history

•       Perform and prepare patients for 12-lead EKGs, Holter and event monitor hook-ups and removals, and assist with stress tests and echocardiogram scheduling

•       Assist physicians during patient exams and procedures

•       Administer medications and injections as directed and within scope of practice

•       Document accurately in the electronic health record (EHR)

•       Manage medication refill requests, prior authorizations, and referrals

•       Triage patient phone calls and relay clinical messages to providers

•       Maintain exam rooms, stock supplies, and follow infection-control protocols

•       Coordinate with the front desk on scheduling, check-in, and follow-up appointments

Qualifications

•       Certification required: CMA (AAMA), RMA (AMT), or equivalent active medical assistant certification

•       Minimum 1 year of clinical medical assistant experience

•       Proficiency with EKGs; cardiology or specialty experience strongly preferred

•       Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems

•       Current BLS/CPR certification

•       Strong communication, organization, and multitasking skills

•       Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus

Schedule

•       Monday–Friday, daytime clinic hours

•       No nights, weekends, or major holidays
