Location: Kansas City Metropolitan area or the Florida Panhandle, near Pensacola, FL
Reports to:
Director of Clinical Affairs & Vet Services
Travel: Up to 75%

As a Medical Affairs Director, you will leverage your advanced clinical expertise to address unmet needs in veterinary medicine while contributing to your own long-term growth through our employee-owner stock option plan. This role supports our mission to empower commercial teams and veterinary clients through expert education, evidence-based insights, and collaborative communication-enabling confident, informed decision-making that elevates patient care within the veterinary specialty pharmaceutical market. 

The Opportunity 

In this highly collaborative role, you will serve as a clinical leader focused on the education of veterinarians in disease state awareness, diagnosis, and management-particularly within cardiovascular conditions affecting companion animals. You will work closely with cross-functional field teams and act as a trusted clinical advisor to business leadership, providing strategic input on both commercialized products and the future development pipeline.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Serve as a trusted clinical advisor and subject matter expert for internal and external stakeholders, including employee-owners, veterinary professionals, key opinion leaders, and corporate partners. 
  • Communicate objective, evidence-based product information and best-practice medicine to support treatment guidelines, brand strategies, and business objectives. 
  • Mentor Sales Force Leadership and Professional Service Veterinarians to achieve aligned clinical and commercial goals at both regional and territory levels. 
  • Represent the organization as a credible and engaging speaker across diverse forums, ranging from small-group discussions to major national and international conference presentations, focused on unmet disease states in companion animal medicine. 
  • Build and sustain strong professional relationships with general practitioners, specialists, academic institutions, and industry leaders. 
  • Actively participate in professional and specialty organizations through committee involvement, board service, and invited speaking engagements. 
  • Collaborate with research and development teams on study design, in-life assessments, and evaluation of emerging clinical trends, serving as the "voice of the veterinarian." 
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned to support organizational objectives. 

Required Qualifications

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) or equivalent degree 
  • Diplomate status from an accredited veterinary specialty board (e.g., ACVIM, ACVS, ACVSMR, ACVECC, ACVB, ABCB) or recognized feline specialty practitioner 
  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant professional experience, ideally including at least 5 years in an industry-based professional services role 
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with veterinary customers and commercial sales teams 
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a servant-leader mindset; self-motivated, adaptable, and comfortable managing multiple priorities 
  • Ability to work independently while thriving in a collaborative, field-based and remote environment 
  • Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications 
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 75% 
  • This position will be based in the Kansas City Metropolitan area or the Florida Panhandle, near Pensacola, FL. Relocation assistance is available.
