Job description

Responsibilities include verifying patient demographics, insurance eligibility, obtaining authorizations, reviewing/confirming procedures performed, processing and posting payments/adjustments.  Research and correct billing errors, incomplete documentation and rejected claims.  Work denials and account receivables timely to ensure resolution, including initiating appeals.  Contact insurance carriers, patients and other agencies to resolve billing and payment issues. Maintain accurate records of communications, account activity and clam status in the billing software.  Respond promptly and professionally to patient inquiries regarding balances, statements or questions.


Qualifications and Skills

1)Minimum 1-2 years of medical billing experience, EMS or ambulance billing experience strongly preferred

2) Excellent communication and customer service skills

3) Multitasker with strong attention to detail

4) Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

5) Familiarity with HIPAA and third-party payer regulations

6) Working knowledge of medical terminology, HCPCS/CPT coding and insurance claim processing

7) Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook), EMS software and insurance portals
