A brief summary

We are looking for a Jr. TOC Operator to join our team to ensure broadcast quality and

connectivity is maintained to the highest operational level. As a key member of the production team, they will provide critical responses in a dynamic broadcasting environment, working as part of a high performing Global team in a collaborative manner. The Jr. TOC Operator will work with the wider Engineering and Operations team using the very latest technology managing platform channels, ensuring the correct ad insertion rotation and QCโ€™ing the distribution paths for remote partners across a cloud-based infrastructure.


The ideal candidate will need to be a clear and confident communicator, be able to adapt

quickly to on-air changes and remain calm under pressure. Their aim will be to ensure the highest quality visual presentation that informs and inspires viewers and audiences from all around the world. An ability to focus and maintain concentration while being flexible to problem solve is key.


In this role, the Jr. TOC Operator will be an integral part of the organizationโ€™s TOC team, and they will work under the guidance of the TOC Lead. The position is based in the Greater Seattle Area. The position may require international travel on occasion.


The successful candidate will be assigned to Project Stryker, the Remote Broadcast Center owned and operated by Riot Games. They will work across the Riot Gamesโ€™ Esport broadcasts featuring championships and tournaments from titles; League of Legends, Wild Rift and Valorant. The Jr. TOC Operator will be working with the latest technology in the most advanced Remote Broadcast Center in the World



What youโ€™ll be responsible for

  • Building of sources through the internal router software.
  • Assisting other departments with the signals/feeds and the ingesting of media.
  • Assist with team critical assessment of video and audio contribution feeds, proactive monitoring with rapid action to restore service using pre-defined emergency procedures.
  • Monitor OTT distribution paths for remote partners, co-streamers, public platforms and assigned content partners such as Twitch, Facebook, YouTube, and any other distribution partner worldwide and monitor throughout the production.
  • Assist with platform channel management, ad insertion during live events and chat moderator assignment.
  • Monitoring of all transmission equipment and software, escalating faults accordingly.
  • Perform first-level metadata and event logging (descriptive metadata) for live events and oversee the extraction of administrative and structural metadata for each asset.
  • Maintain accurate and timely entries into the eventโ€™s daily log throughout the event.
  • Assist with the monitoring of transmission equipment and software, escalating faults accordingly.
  • Assist managing the inbuilt system redundancy to ensure that minimum disruption to services is caused by equipment failures.
  • Assist TOC Operators to perform post-event highlight ingest/transfers, coordinate the "goodnighting" of transmission services, normalize plant, make final metadata entries, and general clean-up. Facilitate seamless hand-off to other Remote Broadcast Centers.
  • Assist with Media tagging and other departmental tasks outside of show times.
  • Other job-related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • 1+ years proven experience with video transmission, encoding and decoding, a Technical Operations Centers, or Broadcast Master Control environment.
  • Knowledge of cloud-based and on-prem live streaming, encoding, and packaging solutions.
  • An understanding of the conversion of baseband video to a compressed video format to facilitate delivery across a variety of networks and platforms.
  • Experience in a live event production operation environment, preferably sports.
  • Knowledge of cloud-based and file-accelerated media upload applications.
  • Experience with OTT monitoring and compliance.
  • Fundamental understanding of IT networking infrastructure.
  • Detailed operational knowledge of tools used to diagnose issues with video and audio feeds, including waveform monitors and audio monitoring units.
  • The ability to work in a live broadcast environment and maintain focus and the ability to accommodate high pressure citations and tight deadlines.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of new and emerging Broadcast Technologies
  • Time management and how-to prioritize workload and asks.
  • Key communication skills โ€“ can listen and understand requests and incorporate other viewpoints in the approach to work and problem solving.
  • Strong computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite apps, and ability to learn and utilize Google business apps
