Job description

POSITION PURPOSE: 

To assist the Retail Store Manager with managing the store in accordance with the company’s mission and philosophy.

ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:

  1. Assist in monitoring the staff throughout the day.
  2. Perform opening and closing duties.
  3. Assist in staff scheduling.
  4. Follow up on store maintenance on a regular basis.
  5. Monitor staff performance.
  6. Assist in providing inventory and cash controls.
  7. Provide excellent customer service, answering questions and resolving customer complaints.
  8. Assist in inspecting inventory shipments.
  9. Assist in creating new inventory products.
  10. Assist in verifying purchase orders.
  11. Assist in developing / implementing merchandise plans for assigned areas and displays.
  12. Assist in training new staff in the aspects of selling, product knowledge, and customer service.

SECONDARY POSITION FUNCTIONS: 

  1. Provide input for employee evaluations.
  2. Provide input for store sales and promotions.
  3. Assist in social media management.
  4. Provide input for employee disciplinary actions. 
  5. Provide input for new products and services (travel to markets).
  6. Assist in daily store records, sales goals, and store deposits.
  7. Assist in discontinuing styles and annual inventory.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • This position supervises assigned staff.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:

  4. Strong organizational skills with the proven ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.

 EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  1. High School diploma or equivalent required. Associate degree in marketing, business or a related field preferred. 
  2. 1-3 years of progressively responsible experience in retail, or a closely related field, required.
  3. 1 year of supervisory experience preferred

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The physical demands described are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

The position requires continuous standing and frequent walking as well as occasional twisting, stooping, bending at the waist, and squatting. The employee is regularly required to talk, see, and hear.  Ability to perform repetitive tasks which require the continuous use of one or both hands.  This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Ability to frequently push, pull and lift 35-40 lbs., and occasionally push, pull, and lift, up to 50 pounds.

Travel is required.
