Job description

Wente Family Vineyards, the longest continuously family-owned and operated winery in the United States, is opening its doors (and cameras) to the next generation of marketing talent with the launch of a Social Media Internship Competition led by the fifth-generation winegrowers of the Wente Family.
Designed for bold, creative, and culturally fluent storytellers, this paid internship offers an inside look at what it takes to run an iconic, legacy wine brand in today's modern market. From vineyard to boardroom, to behind-the-scenes moments rarely seen by the public, the intern will help bring the Wente story to life through social-first content that resonates with Millennial and Gen Z consumers. The chosen candidate will be responsible for developing the content strategy and execution to bring a 140-year-old+ legacy wine brand into the modern world.
This is more than an internship; it's a masterclass in brand storytelling and a front-row seat to the future of wine.
About the Opportunity:
The selected intern will work directly alongside the Chief Revenue Officer, Aly Wente, as part of the marketing/digital team. This individual will also gain unrestricted access to behind-the-scenes education from other members of the 5th generation: Karl Wente, Chief Land and Supply Office, Niki Wente, Director of Vineyard Operations, Jordan Wente, Senior Brand Ambassador and Christine Wente, Chairwoman of the Board of Directors. The role is designed for someone who wants to build a career in marketing, PR, or social media, and who understands how culture, creativity, and authenticity drive modern brands.
This intern will act as a social media storytelling partner, capturing and creating content that will bring a 140-year traditional wine brand into the modern world- allowing consumers to connect with the people, story and legacy behind the brand. Storytelling themes could include the following points, but will be subject to the creativity and perspective of the selected candidate.
  • What it's really like to run a multi-generational, family-owned winery
  • The care, craftsmanship, and intention behind winemaking
  • The people - family members, employees, and partners - who make Wente Family Vineyards unique
  • How wine fits into real life: friendships, food, celebrations, and everyday moments

Role: Social Media Storytelling Intern
This is a hands-on, immersive role for someone who:
  • Is deeply fluent in TikTok, Instagram, and short-form video trends
  • Understands how to create content that feels authentic, relatable, and engaging
  • Has an entrepreneurial mindset and isn't afraid to pitch ideas
  • Can speak to Millennial and Gen Z audiences without forcing it
  • Loves storytelling, culture, and creativity - and ideally seeking a career in marketing

You'll be creating behind-the-scenes content, capturing real moments, and helping translate a 140+ year legacy brand into a voice that feels modern, human, and relevant.
Program Details
  • Timing: May-September (flexible around candidate's schedules)
  • Compensation: Paid internship
  • Schedule: 30-40 hrs per week. Typically, Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. with some weekends/evenings depending on event coverage
  • Location: Livermore Valley, California
  • Housing: Provided by Wente Family Vineyards, if needed.

Perks:
  • Employee wine benefits
  • Access to Wente Family Vineyards experiences and events
  • Direct mentorship from senior executives and brand leaders
  • Career capital - A high-impact experience designed to launch a career in PR, digital marketing, or content creation.

How to Apply
To be considered, applicants must submit:
1. Resume
2. Cover Letter explaining why you're interested and what excites you about wine, storytelling, and Wente Family Vineyards brand.
3. Original Video Application:
  • One 30-second video designed for TikTok or Instagram
  • Post on your social channel and tag @wente and #WenteSocialIntern
  • In this video, show us how you would tell the Wente story and bring the brand to life

This is a competitive application process - creativity, originality, and point of view matter.
Why This Matters
Wine is evolving, and so is the way its stories are told.
This internship is about bridging heritage and modern culture, showing that wine can be both iconic and approachable, rooted in history yet relevant to today's consumers.
For the right candidate, this is a chance to build real experience, real relationships, and real momentum - while helping shape how one of America's most storied wineries connects with the next generation. It's an opportunity to get real hands-on experience and create a portfolio/project to bring with you into future job applications and more.
