Our client seeks a Media Engineer II to sustain and troubleshoot core media systems across live production, playout, contribution, and distribution environments. The role operates as Tier‑2 support within a hybrid on‑prem and cloud workflow, contributing to integration, documentation, and preventative engineering. The successful candidate will bring hands‑on broadcast and media infrastructure experience, proficiency with SMPTE standards, and an ability to resolve complex issues across video, audio, networking, and storage. The position requires on‑site operational support and collaboration with engineering, operations, and infrastructure teams.

Responsibilities:
  • Support sustainment and uptime of media production and distribution systems as Tier‑2 escalation across live media environments.
  • Troubleshoot complex issues across video, audio, networking, storage, compute, and control systems with limited direction.
  • Work across playout technology, studios, production control rooms, remote production, post‑production, and contribution and distribution systems.
  • Support on‑prem and cloud‑based media workflows including compute, storage, encoding, and distribution platforms.
  • Perform system integration tasks, documentation, preventative maintenance, and process improvements.
  • Support and troubleshoot IP‑based broadcast equipment, studio technologies, file‑based workflows, and production control systems.
  • Assist with videotape restoration and VTR workflows, including tape deck maintenance and repair in a core server environment.
  • Partner with senior engineers for knowledge transfer while independently resolving assigned sustainment and integration tasks.
  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, and infrastructure teams to support evolving business needs.
  • Participate in on‑site operational support, including extended coverage hours as needed.

Experience Requirements:
  • 3+ years of hands‑on experience ensuring sustainment, uptime, and stability of live media production and distribution environments.
  • Experience working in SDLC environments and partnering with infrastructure and engineering teams to support design, integration, and sustainment.
  • Proficiency with modern engineering practices including microservices architectures and DevOps tools, principles, standards, and guidelines.
  • Working knowledge of scripting languages such as Python, NodeJS, Bash, or PowerShell.
  • Proficiency with SMPTE and related standards such as ST 292M, ST 424M, ST 2110, ST 2059, IEEE 1588, ST 2022‑7, and SCTE‑104.
  • Hands‑on experience supporting on‑prem and cloud storage and compute platforms using current technologies.
  • Foundational cloud certification such as Microsoft Azure Fundamentals, CompTIA Cloud+, or AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate.
  • Working knowledge of compression techniques including MPEG‑2/4, HEVC, JPEG 2000, and JPEG XS.
  • Experience with Evertz control and monitoring systems such as VistaLink or Magnum, EQX/EXE routers, and platforms including VLPRO, SDVN, VIP, VUE, and MVP.
  • Experience supporting media systems across MAM, file‑based workflows, media acquisition, transcoding/encoding, graphics, and NAS/SAN.
  • Knowledge of broadcast monitoring tools including Nielsen (NACAT), VANC equipment, and Linear Acoustics.
  • Understanding of IRDs, core and edge devices, timing for video and audio systems, and media file formats.
  • Ability to create, read, and interpret technical documentation and drawings using tools such as AutoCAD.
  • Proven troubleshooting and sustainment experience with IP‑based broadcast equipment, studio technology, file‑based enterprise workflows, production control systems, transmission systems, and AWS services including S3/Glacier and EC2.
  • Ability to meet physical requirements including climbing ladders, working on raised structures and roofs, operating aerial lift platforms, and maintaining a valid driver’s license.

Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Microsoft Azure Fundamentals certification.
  • CompTIA Cloud+ certification.
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate certification.
