What is media diving?

Media diving involves underwater work related to media production, such as filming documentaries, movies, commercials, or conducting underwater photography. Media divers are responsible for capturing high-quality underwater footage or images, often in challenging conditions. They may work closely with directors, camera operators, and marine biologists to ensure scenes are filmed safely and effectively. Specialized training in both diving and camera equipment is usually required for this role.

What are some common challenges faced by media divers when working on underwater film or photography projects?

Media divers often encounter challenges such as limited visibility, strong currents, and the need to coordinate closely with film crews and talent underwater. They must manage their own safety while also ensuring that sensitive camera equipment is handled properly and shots are composed effectively. Effective communication using hand signals and pre-dive briefings is essential, as is adapting quickly to changing underwater conditions. Successful media divers are skilled at problem-solving in unpredictable environments and collaborating with both creative and technical team members.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a media diver, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Media Diver, you need strong scuba diving proficiency, certification (such as PADI Divemaster or equivalent), and experience with underwater video or photography. Familiarity with specialized underwater camera equipment, lighting systems, and post-production editing software is typically required. Exceptional attention to detail, adaptability to challenging environments, and clear communication skills help media divers excel during shoots and collaborate with production teams. These combined skills ensure safety, high-quality content capture, and effective teamwork in often unpredictable underwater conditions.

Job description

Launch Your Career with Cool Clients, Creative Campaigns, and Cutting-Edge Data

Forget the cliches about advertising. You don't need a marketing degree to succeed here. Sure, we hire people with degrees in marketing and business. But some of our best employees have also come from backgrounds in neuroscience, finance, psychology, and music-and members of our team are also DJs, cake bosses, bedazzlers, world travelers, rock singers, athletes, and poets. At Gupta Media, your quirks add to your qualifications. If you don't fit into a box, you'll fit in perfectly.

About Us
Gupta Media was founded over 25 years ago on the idea that advertising could create huge leverage in our clients' businesses. Our work initially focused on the entertainment industry, specifically live events and recorded music (SXSW, Sony Music, Universal Music, and Disney Music Group are all clients). We have grown to include global brands (Amazon, Sophia Learning), major sports franchises (X Games, Florida Panthers, Washington Commanders, Cleveland Cavaliers, Women's Tennis Association), as well as public sector institutions (City of Boston, Massachusetts Office of Travel and Tourism).

The Role
As a Media Coordinator, you'll play a key role in launching paid media campaigns, analyzing results, and making data-driven decisions to deliver exceptional client outcomes. Our hands-on Medley:Onramp training program will teach you everything you need to know about platforms like Meta, Google Ads, and TikTok, plus the strategies that make them work.

Here's what you'll do:

  • Master Digital Marketing: Build, optimize, and manage campaigns across top platforms. You'll learn how to target audiences, A/B test ad copy, and measure success using metrics like CPM, CPC, CPV, and CPA.
  • Communicate with Confidence: Develop the skills to interpret complex data and share insights that matter. Whether crafting a report or explaining trends to clients, your ability to tell a story with numbers will set you apart.
  • Leverage Analytics: Data is at the heart of everything we do. You'll work with tools like Excel, Google Sheets, and Google Analytics while applying formulas, functions, and calculations to uncover trends, solve problems, and deliver results. If you enjoy predicting outcomes (be it a fantasy league or Dancing with the Stars), you'll feel right at home.

Who You Are
We're looking for recent grads who bring energy, curiosity, and a can-do attitude. You...

  • Have a Bachelor's degree with a minimum GPA of 3.3.
  • Have a passion for marketing and advertising, along with a desire to dig deeper into what makes good advertising great.
  • Possess a solid working knowledge of spreadsheets (know the basic functions and an advanced formula or two).
  • Enjoy diving into and talking about data, numbers, rates, and what they could all mean for your clients and campaigns.
  • Thrive in fast-paced environments and manage multiple priorities like a pro.
  • Are a leader in your own right-whether you captained a team, led a student org, or carried group projects across the finish line.
  • Have a drive to keep learning, growing, and asking "what's next?"

Why Gupta?

At Gupta Media, we believe in fostering a culture of curiosity, collaboration, and a little bit of competition (ask about our summer softball leagues). We prioritize in-office work because we know that the best ideas happen when we're working together. Beyond the work, we're passionate about supporting a diverse and inclusive environment that celebrates different perspectives.

How to Apply
Let's skip the generic cover letter. Instead, we want to see:

  • Your resume, of course.
  • A supplemental response that shares with us a glimpse into why this type of role is right for you. You'll have a choice of prompts, so pick the one that checks your boxes and give us your best answer. We will read them!

Work Environment
Gupta Media is an office-first organization.

Compensation
At Gupta Media, base salary is one component of our total compensation and benefits package. For this role, the anticipated base salary range is $58,000 - $62,000, depending on relevant experience, skills, and qualifications. This role is eligible to participate in our annual bonus plan, which is based on the company's performance.

We offer a competitive benefits package including health, dental, vision, and pet insurance; Flexible and Dependent Care Savings Accounts; a 401(k) with up to 5% Safe Harbor contributions; paid time off; paid family leave; commuting and wellness stipends; and opportunities for professional development and career growth.

Candidates must be authorized to work in the US for at least 3 years.
