Overview

The role of Specialist, Local Planning is to assist with managing the day-to-day Local media planning and strategy functions including management of accurate budget control and flow of media activity. You will develop and maintain a strong knowledge of client business and apply local media understanding accordingly to help deliver against the clients' needs/objectives. You will work closely with Supervisors in the development and communication of all local media recommendations. This position will manage several junior staff day to day and reports directly to the Supervisor, Local Planning.

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for contributing to the development of and executing local planning for the assigned business
  • Evaluates capabilities and composition of a wide range of media vehicles to determine which most effectively reaches the target audience
  • Evaluates and assesses media performance to determine the extent to which the original media objectives and strategies were accomplished
  • Research, interpret and evaluate available marketing and research data to develop media objectives and local plans
  • Effectively communicate and present to top management and clients
  • Maintain accurate budget control and flow of media activity and update client on timely/consistent basis
  • Approve media authorizations prepared by team per approved plans/project requests
  • Accountable for accuracy and media intelligence
  • Supervise and motivate direct reports
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities that management may deem necessary from time to time
  • Advocate for multicultural & diversity inclusion throughout plans
Qualifications
  • 2+ years of experience in media planning/strategy, local experience preferred
  • Agency experience highly preferred
  • Computer Skills/Software Knowledge: Microsoft Suite, Nielsen Suite, Kantar, IMS, Flowchart Software, R/F and Optimization Software, Social Tracking tools, Prisma, MediaOcean, MRI/GfK, GWI
  • Strong knowledge of all cross-channel media, with a drive for curiosity and passion for the client's business
  • Demonstrate ability to learn new propriety software and processes quickly and proficiently
  • Solid written and verbal skills, with ability to present to clients, maintain client correspondence and internal documentation
  • Minimal supervision, relies on experience/judgment
  • Understanding of Activation/Negotiation team functions
  • Understand the capabilities of each media channel to maximize the impact and components within each campaign
  • Meet client and internal deadlines and obligations
  • Manage projects, resources, stakeholders, and participants
  • Orient, train, assign and review the work of subordinates
