Location: St. James

perXuade, an XP Synergy company, is currently seeking a Graphic Designer with professional and/or academic experience, or the desire to expand within the space of inspiring the future generation of creatives. You will be responsible for equipping high school students with Pre-ETS skills that prepare them to go beyond just learning graphics arts. Equipping them with both creative, work-readiness, and life skills. Students will have access to Adobe Creative Suite, so adapting your knowledge is a must. We also focus class time on training students for the variety of post-secondary options that are available to them (such as work, college, training, military, etc.). You will be expected to dedicate your time toward classroom instruction and related duties for the school system we are contracted to work within. This includes the daily/weekly grading of assignments, inputting grades, and lesson planning.

Instruction Duties: this position requires organization, so you must stay on task and have a plan on how to execute each lesson. This position is ideal for EXPERIENCED creative industry professionals and educators that wish to share their skills and lead the next generation of designers.

Graphic Design Duties: Your non-education roles will focus on being one of our designers. You must be capable of producing designs as simple as flyers, posters, newsletters, and desktop publishing.

We've since grown into teaching traditional students by having contracts with School Districts. Additionally, we continue to grow our summer internship program for special needs students, and soon to offer internships to high school seniors during the school year. We mainly serve Louisiana and Texas; and we are looking toward controlled expansion nationally.

  • Must be available during school hours (does not include drive time to school or office)
  • Must have 2 or more years of experience in Graphic Design or Graphic Arts
  • Be authorized to work in the United States. Background check is required.
  • Must have reliable daily transportation to St. Helena Parish.
  • Experience teaching or working with students in middle/high school is a plus
  • Effective management of multiple, concurrent projects against aggressive timelines without compromising accuracy or quality
  • Great interpersonal skills and a do-whatever-it-takes attitude and general spirit of teamwork

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, arts, design, education, or a related discipline
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Lightroom).Videography and Premiere area plus.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and One Drive (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Teams)
  • Adobe Certification is a plus
  • Teacher Certification is a plus

EMPLOYMENT Contractor – $1,500 to $2,000 per month (approx. $25/hour), based on experience

Based on 15-20 Hours a week

  • Contract for school year
  • Contract fulfillment exclusive to all aspect of school instruction
  • Other school break days worked in office or virtually as needed

GENERAL EVERYDAY EXPECTATIONS

  • ½ Day Focused Classroom Prep and Instruction Duties
    • 93minutes Class Time (Includes Instruction/Work Time and Start/End of Class Procedures)
    • Currently teaching up to two classes for the Spring semester of the 2025-26 school year
    • Arrive at school at least30 minutes before first class for preparation for the day
    • Must be able to deal with situations with students effectively and calmly (disruptions, arguments, etc.)
    • Interact and instruct students from different backgrounds, attitudes, and/or special needs.
    • During projects must effectively provide input and help to multiple students over the course of the class
    • Interact and work with School Personnel such as Principals, Administrators, and other teachers
    • Guide and support students on execution and delivery of any print projects requested by SJPS
    • Utilize required school programs and systems for grading, attendance, and discipline
    • Effectively grade and evaluate each individual student on their own performance, growth, and abilities by required deadlines (progress reports)
    • Be Open to Off-Topic Conversations at proper times for discussion and building a rapport with students
    • Utilize Google Classroom Suite and Email to distribute assignments and communicate with students
  • Balance of Workday
  • Grading, Lesson Planning, and Daily check-ins for classes
  • Completing required paperwork and reports
  • Catalogue and organization of image and file management.
  • Assist the team in whichever way possible, including assisting with curriculum development or support of school-based embedded enterprise program(s) as needed.
  • Attend kickoff, internal reviews and status meetings to ensure our project management tool is updated with your assignments, project status, schedule updates and time entries.
