GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

We are seeking a detail-oriented Mechanical Pump Technician to perform all mechanical vacuum pump repairs and rebuilding operations. In this role, you will be troubleshooting, disassembling, rebuilding, repairing, reassembling, and testing a variety of oil-lubricated belt-driven and direct-drive vacuum pumps. You will work closely with our experienced technician, Paul, to master our specific equipment, engineering processes, and the overall operations of the department. This is an exceptional opportunity for a skilled mechanic to bring their talents into the specialized vacuum technology industry.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Pump Repair & Rebuilding

  • Disassemble various manufacturers' mechanical vacuum pumps for customer-submitted repairs.

  • Meticulously clean pump parts and components in preparation for evaluation and service.

  • Perform troubleshooting and evaluation to determine the root cause of pump failures.

  • Reassemble mechanical pumps with precision, ensuring all components fit according to manufacturer specifications.

  • Repair and rebuild mechanical pumps from shelf inventory to prepare them for customer sales.

Testing & Electrical Tasks

  • Wire single-phase and three-phase motors safely and accurately.

  • Test reassembled pumps to ensure their operational performance meets or exceeds strict product specifications.

Shop Safety & Operations

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe personal work area at all times.

  • Follow strict safe work practices during all stages of performance; take all reasonable precautions by utilizing safety equipment such as protective masks, eye shields, and ear guards.

  • Maintain a high sense of urgency regarding job completion and turn-around times to meet customer expectations.

EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE

  • **Experience Level:

    ** 3 to 5+ years of professional, hands-on mechanical repair experience is required.

  • **Industry Background:

    ** Direct vacuum pump rebuilding experience is highly preferred. However, we are fully open to training candidates who possess strong cross-transferable mechanical aptitude from industries such as:
