Summary
This a National Guard Title 32 Excepted Service Position.
This is a Permanent WS-5801-10 SURFACE MAINTENANCE MECHANIC SUPERVISOR (TITLE 32), Position Description Number D1290000 and is part of the MO Field Maintenance Shop 11.

Help
  • Plans use of subordinate workers, equipment, facilities, and materials on a week-to-week or month-to-month
    basis.
  • Establishes deadlines, priorities, and work sequences, and plans work assignments based on general work schedules, methods, and policies set by the supervisor.
  • Coordinates work with supporting or related work functions controlled by other supervisors.
  • Determines the number and types of workers needed to accomplish specific projects.
  • Determines skills, materials, and equipment required to do the work.
  • Redirects individual workers and resources to accomplish unanticipated work.
  • Informs the supervisor of the need to revise work schedules and re-estimate labor and other resources.
  • Assigns tasks to be performed based on readiness and explains work requirements, methods, and procedures.
  • Investigates work related problems such as excessive costs or low productivity and determines causes.
  • Implements corrective actions within their authority to resolve work problems.
  • Recommends solutions to staffing problems, engineering requirements, and work operations directed by other supervisors.
  • Plans and establishes overall leave schedules.
  • Sets performance standards, and makes formal appraisals of subordinate work performance.
  • Performs non-supervisory work, such as, transporting equipment, performing maintenance tasks, etc.
  • Develops, publishes, and ensures employee compliance with standing operating procedures for the activity supervised.
  • Implements and complies with agency, state, and federal regulatory Occupational Safety and Health, and environmental requirements.
  • Prepares for and participates in various types of readiness evaluations, inspections, mobilization, and command support exercises.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate security clearance of the position.
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.
  • Irregular and/or overtime (compensatory) hours may be required to support operational requirements or contingencies or may be required to work hours outside of the normal duty day.
  • May be required to successfully complete a probationary period.

  • Placement or baseline physical are required for newly hired or appointed Wage Grade personnel who may be potentially exposed to health hazards in the work environment.

Qualifications
MILITARY REQUIREMENTS: Selected candidate must currently be assigned to a military unit in the Missouri Army National Guard. Title 32 employees will not be militarily senior to their full-time supervisor (grade inversion).
Maximum Military Grade - 1LT (O-2)
Minimum Military Grade - CW2 with date or rank on or before 08 July 2023
GENERAL EXPERIENCE: Must possess experience or training which demonstrates your ability to organize assignments for subordinates, estimate material and manpower needed for specific jobs; explain manuals and work procedures; and prepare production records, work records and reports.
WS-10 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must possess specialized experience that demonstrates your ability to plan and organize work assignments for a repair function; review work requirements and establish priorities to meet deadlines; provide a knowledge of the various lines of work performed by the repair function and associated support organizations; and dealt effectively with other people. Experience adapting existing equipment and techniques to new situations. Experience supervising through subordinate supervisors, or the potential to perform such duties as evidenced by the ability to communicate. Experience applying human relations techniques using a knowledge of general supervisory concepts; and a knowledge of shop processes.

This job does not have a qualification requirement that allows substitution of education for specialized experience.
