Job description

Wilcox develops innovative, world class electro-mechanical combat systems for today's warfighters and law enforcement officers. Engineering Techs are a core component of the development team serving as the mechanical technical support in development and while working to deliver best in class products. Mechanical Engineering Technicians work closely with Mechanical Engineers, Quality Engineers, System Engineers, and Program Managers to ensure Wilcox stays on the leading edge of technology and innovation while delivering a product that our customer can trust his/her life with.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Assist in the assembly of test fixtures and engineering prototypes during engineering development projects.
  • Perform troubleshooting tasks on new and existing mechanical, electrical and optical assemblies.
  • Perform simple engineering calculations and prepare basic engineering documentation.
  • Execute hands-on testing in laboratory or field settings to evaluate the performance, durability, and functionality of mechanical, electrical and optical systems.
  • Maintain organized records of testing results and troubleshooting findings for future reference and traceability.
  • Collaborate with mechanical and other engineering disciplines to provide support for testing, troubleshooting and other engineering tasks during development projects.
  • Attend cross functional meetings and provide input related to prototype assemblies and troubleshooting findings.
  • Assist test and other engineering disciplines with the specification, procurement and assembly of new test equipment and setups.
  • Performs other duties as directed.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education & Experience:
  • Associate's Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology (EET, or a related field) or equivalent experience.
  • Relevant hands-on experience from internships, technical training programs, or relevant coursework is beneficial.
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite (Microsoft 365, Teams).
  • Experience in using defect tracking tools (e.g., JIRA)
  • Wilcox is a U.S government defense contractor, and this position requires access to export-controlled technology. Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access U.S. government-controlled technology prior to beginning work.
  • US Citizenship is required for this position.
Preferred Skills/Abilities:
  • Understanding of CAD software, SolidWorks preferred.
  • Exceptional ability with assembly and teardown of mechanical systems.
  • Ability to prepare and present test and troubleshooting findings in front of a group.
  • Familiarity with U.S Department of Defense contracts and requirements.
Physical Requirements:
  • Regular on-site attendance is a necessary function of this position.
  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear; use hands and fingers to handle and touch objects, tools, or controls to work in a production environment. Vision abilities required including close vision, distance vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus to work. Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift 25 pounds at times.
