Job description

Responsibilities
Arcfield is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Mechanical Engineer to support efforts working with the Naval Undersea Warfare Center (NUWC) as part of the Code 34 Electronic Warfare (EW) Outboard Engineering Team. Tasking will include mechanical design, technical documentation development, on-site support, and In-Service support of AN/BLQ-10 systems.
Responsibilities:
  • Provide platform-specific mechanical design input to customer for EW Outboard assemblies and products to improve function, maintainability and ensure an effective operation.
  • Participate in mechanical design and testing reviews.
  • Develop, update, and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, and technical data packages for outboard EW equipment.
  • Provide on-site technical assistance, troubleshooting, and maintenance support to customers, operators, and field teams as needed.
  • Review technical drawings, assembly drawings, procedures, test reports and 3D models.
  • Support installations, retrofits, and system integration activities, ensuring compliance with engineering standards and customer requirements.
  • Perform root cause analysis of outboard EW equipment failures and recommend/implement corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with cross-disciplinary engineering, logistics, and program management teams to resolve technical issues and optimize sustainment processes.
  • Prepare detailed engineering reports, modification instructions, maintenance procedures, and technical presentations.
  • Respond to technical inquiries and provide timely solutions to fielded system issues.
  • Ensure adherence to all safety and security protocols during field and engineering activities.
  • Review and develop test plans and perform risk assessments.
  • Respond to ad hoc technical tasking from customers
  • Travel to customer sites, military bases, shipyards, and other field locations to provide direct engineering support (up to 10% of travel required).

Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
  • BS 0-2 Years
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience supporting mechanical systems sustainment, preferably with DoD/defense or EW platforms.
  • Proficiency with CAD tools (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar) and technical drawing standards (ASME, MIL-STD, etc.).
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and hands-on experience with mechanical integration and repairs.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to clearly document and convey technical information.
  • Ability and willingness to travel as required, sometimes on short notice.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Secret level clearance.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and capability to work independently or collaboratively in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience supporting Navy/Air Force/Army EW or mission-critical outboard systems.
  • Familiarity with government/DoD documentation, safety standards, and technical data packages (TDP).
  • Experience providing on-site engineering support or field service.
  • Working knowledge of configuration management and change control processes.
