JOB SUMMARY

As a Manufacturing Engineer (Temporary) in Troy, MI, you will:

  • Support the development and improvement of manufacturing processes for electrical and metal‑fabrication equipment to ensure smooth production flow and consistent quality
  • Assist with selecting and evaluating machinery, tools, and equipment, including basic troubleshooting and helping monitor performance
  • Participate in continuous‑improvement activities using Lean, Six Sigma, and other structured problem‑solving methods
  • Help create and update work instructions, standard operating procedures, and process documentation to support safe and consistent operations
  • Collaborate with engineering teams during new product introduction by providing input on manufacturability and learning DFMA principles
  • Work with quality teams to support inspection plans, testing methods, and root‑cause investigations for manufacturing‑related issues
  • Provide hands‑on support to production teams by helping resolve day‑to‑day issues and assisting with process adjustment
  • Contribute to cost‑reduction and efficiency‑improvement efforts by gathering data, performing basic analyses, and supporting implementation
  • Communicate and coordinate with production, engineering, procurement, and supply chain teams to ensure alignment and smooth operations
  • Promote a safe work environment by following safety standards, identifying potential risks, and supporting compliance initiatives

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical, Industrial, Mechanical, or Manufacturing engineering
  • Must be local to Troy, MI or the Detroit, MI, metro; relocation is not available for this role
  • Previous manufacturing experience with exposure to metal fabrication, electrical systems, and electro‑mechanical assembly strongly preferred
  • Skilled in supporting production teams directly, including hands‑on troubleshooting and process adjustments on the shop floor
  • Understands Lean, Six Sigma, and structured continuous‑improvement methodologies
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities, including data interpretation, root‑cause identification, and corrective‑action implementation
  • Familiar with quality tools such as process controls, structured problem‑solving, and risk‑assessment methods (e.g., FMEA)
  • Clear and confident communicator who works well with teammates across different functions
