How much do mechanical engineer revit jobs pay per year?

As of Jul 2, 2026, the average yearly pay for mechanical engineer revit in the United States is $102,878.00, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $81,500.00 and $126,500.00 per year, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a Mechanical Engineer Revit, and why are they important?

To excel as a Mechanical Engineer Revit, you need a solid background in mechanical engineering principles, HVAC or MEP systems design, and a relevant engineering degree. Proficiency in Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, and Building Information Modeling (BIM) software, along with certifications like LEED or Autodesk Certified Professional, is highly valued. Strong problem-solving, teamwork, and communication skills help you effectively coordinate with multidisciplinary project teams and stakeholders. These competencies are essential to delivering accurate, efficient, and collaborative design solutions in complex construction projects.

How does a Mechanical Engineer using Revit typically collaborate with other disciplines on a building project?

Mechanical Engineers who use Revit often work closely with architects, structural engineers, and electrical engineers to develop coordinated building models. Collaboration usually involves sharing Revit models, participating in coordination meetings, and using tools like clash detection to resolve design conflicts. This interdisciplinary teamwork ensures that mechanical systems, such as HVAC and plumbing, integrate seamlessly with the overall building design. Effective communication and a strong understanding of BIM workflows are essential for success in this role.

What is the difference between Mechanical Engineer Revit vs Mechanical Designer?

AspectMechanical Engineer RevitMechanical Designer
CredentialsBachelor's in Mechanical Engineering, Revit certification often preferredAssociate's or Bachelor's in Mechanical Design or related field
Work EnvironmentEngineering firms, construction, HVAC, plumbing projectsDesign firms, manufacturing, construction drafting
ResponsibilitiesDesign, analyze, and oversee mechanical systems using RevitDrafting, detailing, and creating mechanical system layouts

Mechanical Engineer Revit professionals focus on designing and analyzing mechanical systems using Revit software, often requiring engineering credentials. Mechanical Designers primarily create detailed drawings and layouts, typically with less emphasis on engineering analysis. Both roles are integral to building projects but differ in scope and technical requirements.

What is a Mechanical Engineer Revit?

A Mechanical Engineer Revit is a professional who specializes in designing and analyzing mechanical systems, such as HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection, using Autodesk Revit. Revit is a Building Information Modeling (BIM) software that allows engineers to create detailed 3D models and collaborate with other disciplines in the construction industry. Mechanical Engineer Revit professionals use this software to ensure that their designs are accurate, efficient, and integrated with architectural and structural models. Their expertise helps improve project coordination, reduce errors, and streamline the construction process.

Mechanical Engineer Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to support the design and development of critical utility systems within a manufacturing or industrial environment. This role is focused on designing, analyzing, and optimizing systems such as water distribution, cooling towers, steam and condensate, and drainage.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on Mechanical Engineer (BSME) with experience collaborating on plant layouts and facility design, and a strong foundation in mechanical systems, fluid dynamics, and equipment selection. This individual is detail-oriented, technically strong, and comfortable working in piping-heavy environments using modern design tools.

Key Responsibilities & Qualifications

Responsibilities:

  • Develop mechanical designs for utility systems, including:
    • Water systems (distribution and cooling towers)
    • Steam and condensate systems
    • Drainage systems
  • Perform pump sizing and hydraulic calculations to support system design
  • Select and specify equipment such as:
    • Pumps
    • Valves
    • Heat exchangers
  • Produce, review, and update engineering drawings using AutoCAD
  • Collaborate with Mechanical Engineers and cross-functional teams on plant layouts and facility designs
  • Support work in piping-intensive environments using:
    • Plant 3D
    • Revit

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (required)
  • Experience working in a manufacturing, industrial, or utility systems environment
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems, fluid flow, and hydraulics
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD
  • Experience working with Mechanical Engineers on plant layouts and facility design
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

Nice to Have (Plus):

  • Experience with Plant 3D and/or Revit
  • Experience in piping-heavy or utility system environments
  • Exposure to facility design and equipment layout optimization
  • Experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing environments

Compensation:
The actual salary offered is dependent on various factors including, but not limited to, location, the candidate's combination of job-related knowledge, qualifications, skills, education, training, and experience.
