Job description

Pivotal Health Solutions is seeking a Design Engineer to join our team in Watertown, SD. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and developing products and components from concept to production. This role requires strong CAD skills, engineering fundamentals, and a problem-solving mindset to bring innovative ideas to life.
Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Prepares engineering analysis of projects to include preliminary design, calculation, life cycle cost and equipment selection.
  • Prepare and interpret blueprints, schematic drawings, layouts, and other visual aids.
  • Prepare technical construction specifications.
  • Perform mechanical engineering duties surrounding the following: mechanical devices, components, engines, motors, machine tools, robots, automated manufacturing equipment and power producing machines.
  • Manage construction document printing process.
  • Review and critique proposed changes to engineering standards, policies, or details.
  • Review development plans for compliance with adopted engineering standards and good engineering practices.
  • Manage project issues, budgets, and schedules.
  • Create detailed 2D and 3D CAD models and engineering drawings using software such as SolidWorks.
  • Support prototype fabrication and testing efforts.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, quality, and sourcing to ensure design intent is maintained through production.
  • Conduct engineering analysis (FEA, thermal, stress, etc.) to validate designs
  • Provide technical presentations to customers and staff as required.
  • Function as chief inspector on engineering projects.
  • Provide on the job training to new staff.
  • Ability to do electrical design is plus
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Job Qualifications
  • 4 year university engineering degree or 2 year tech school degree
  • Work requires advanced math skills, special relationship abilities, and the ability to understand abstract principles behind math and physics.
  • Job may require travel to meetings, site visits, and inspections.
  • Work requires willingness to work to a flexible schedule.
  • Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing within the department and other areas of the Company as necessary.
  • Ability to interpret and work from oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to legibly document data for record keeping purposes.
  • Excellent communication skills in effectively working with co-workers.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional during peak periods of activity.
  • Knowledge of organizational methods and the ability to manage multiple tasks/duties simultaneously.
