Job description

At SIG, we are looking for a Mechanical Application Engineer to join our System Application team. In this role, you will be the technical expert supporting complex customer challenges, driving root cause analyses, and ensuring that engineering solutions are effectively implemented across our global organization.

You will collaborate closely with Engineering, Service, Sales, and Market Organizations to improve machine performance, increase productivity, and enhance customer satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide advanced technical support for complex customer and market escalations.
  • Perform root cause analyses on recurring technical issues and identify sustainable corrective actions.
  • Define, coordinate, monitor, and validate corrective measures together with technical departments.
  • Evaluate technical solutions and ensure their suitability for system-wide implementation.
  • Identify opportunities to improve machine productivity, reliability, and cost efficiency.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Service, and Market Organizations to transfer technical knowledge and best practices.
  • Follow up on technical actions and ensure timely implementation.
  • Validate implemented solutions through field testing and customer feedback.
  • Create and maintain Technical Bulletins and other technical documentation.
  • Act as the interface between Service Organizations and Engineering to ensure efficient communication and continuous improvement.

You bring these skills, experience & education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a comparable technical qualification
  • 3–5 years of professional experience in mechanical engineering, application engineering, service engineering, or a related technical field
  • Strong mechanical engineering knowledge and ability to understand complex technical systems
  • Experience with SAP, Jira, and CAD Viewer
  • Advanced MS Office skills
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings and engineering documentation
  • Fluency in English; knowledge of German is required
  • Willingness to travel internationally (approximately 25%) with no visa issues
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a customer-oriented mindset
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with global teams
  • Experience in troubleshooting complex mechanical systems and performing root cause analysis
  • Experience working in an international environment is an advantage
  • Experience within the packaging machinery industry is a plus
