Job Description:

Under the direction of the Superintendent of Maintenance or designate, the Mechanic performs comprehensive maintenance and repair work on Pace vehicles. Responsibilities include:

  1. performing preventive maintenance inspections,

  2. Diagnosing, troubleshooting, and performing general repairs on all company vehicles and equipment.

  3. Removing and replacing all units and rebuilding small components.

  4. Making service calls,

  5. Completing all required documents,

  6. Accounting for all materials used in accordance with the work order system.

  7. Performing Foreman's duties as needed.

  8. Performing other duties as assigned or required

Qualifications

Age:

21+.

Education:

High school diploma or equivalency. 

Experience:

Must have at least three (3) years' previous diesel/gas experience and/or technical training and possess a good work history. 

Certifications:

Must attend Pace's examination for position.

Must have or obtain within 30 days of being hired, a valid "A" Commercial Driver's license with passenger and air brake endorsements.

Must possess air conditioning certification.

Proficiencies:

Must have or purchase a complete set of hand tools sufficient for performing the duties of the position. 

Must be able to operate all company equipment and have knowledge of the service area.

Must have the ability to read and follow blueprints, schematics, and maintenance manuals and to operate test equipment.

Physical Requirements:

Must be capable of lifting 75 pounds to waist height, maintaining and carrying that weight for a minimum of ten feet.

This is a safety sensitive position.

Working Conditions:

The performance of these duties may be required 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Work is performed in a shop environment, where the employee may be exposed to loud noises and noxious odors and other environmental conditions.

This position is not eligible for hybrid schedule or telecommuting.

Salary:

$35.99/hr
